This thing kills bugs and lots of them. I left it on overnight the first day I had it. I checked the next day and there were lots of dead bugs either in the tray or stuck to the grid.Set up is easy, since all you have to do is hang it up and plug it in.As others have noted, the bulbs tend to come loose during shipping. I just tapped the bottom of the housing and the bulbs lit right up. Two elements of the electrical grid were almost touching and close enough to cause arcing each time the capacitor charged up. While I appreciated the Van der Graaf effect, the constant zapping even where there were no suicidal bugs around was annoying.The fix was easy, I just unplugged the bug killer, and then used an electrician's screw driver to separate the two elements. Be sure to use a well insulated screw driver as the capacitor holds a charge for quite some time. After that, there was no zapping unless it was killing bugs.

Fast delivery and great price for a powerful unit that gets the job done. When it arrived I followed the advice of other reviews and opened up the tray, unscrewed the little phillips screw holding on the door, and pulled out and reset the bulbs. They were loose from shipment and once they were snapped into place I put it all together and they both worked amazingly well! So good to have something that takes down the numbers!

I have ordered two of these in succession, neither one had a working fluorescent light, needed to attract the bugs. Returned the first for a refund, and turned right around and ordered it again (Amazons Choice option, second time, at higher price) thinking what would be the odds the second one would not work either? Although at least one other reviewer had a 2-time fail unit experience. Well, surprise surprise, the second one did not work either. I plugged it in multiple outlets, let it sit for 10 minutes. Nothing. So I just boxed it up to take to the UPS store. I’m going to shop for some other unit ... by some other manufacturer.

I bought 3 of these, one for near each of my doors. I gave only 4 stars because one arrived with a loose bulb that we had to reinsert before it would work. We installed them under our porches because our house is about 8 feet above the ground. So far they work great and draw most of the bugs away from the porch lights. I can hear them zapping bugs all night. They arrived on time , were easy to unpack and only need a eyelet, nail or cuphook to put them up. The cords are about 10 feet long and 2 were long enough to plug into the outside receptacle under the porches.

Plugged product in and did not work. No switch for on/off, and made sure plug outlet good. Thought hey, will give the company another chance and order another one. Whet to order and it reflected "product unavailable". Gee wonder why?Noted in the reviews that another one star review had same issue. That purchaser took the product apart and rebuilt it.... No Thanks! Company needs a better quality control system. They are not making a good reputation for Hoont Products.

It worked right out of the box and did well for a total of 2 days. After that the zapper part stopped working but the light still glowed blue. I blew it out with a hair dryer to clean it out to no avail. After a week I took it down and got the mud dobber nest that was being built on the zapping wire.As a kid bug zappers would burn the bugs if they landed on the wire. This one pops real loud but doesn't burn the bugs off. So if you have one that works your gonna have to clean it often. It's not easy to do but a blower of some kind will work.

We had a bad gnat problem on our rear patio and I was looking into various solutions. This product did not have any assembly (despite what another review stated). I plugged it in, and within a minute it began zapping bugs. As the night went on, the frequency of bugs attracted to the zapper increased and the bugs zapping was constant. Since the one night of using the bug zapper, the gnats seem like they are 90-95% gone. I am guessing if I used it a few more consecutive nights that it would get my patio space even better.

It really attracts flying bugs (not really mosquito UNLESS you put inside something that mosquito's likes the smell. BUT works good. (Had only had a week or more and I already see a reduction of flying bugs
