I purchased the HIC Manual Nut Chopper by Harold Import Co. and I must say, it has been a game changer in my baking routine! As someone who frequently uses nuts in my recipes, I was tired of spending so much time chopping them up with a knife. This chopper has saved me a lot of time and effort, and it was definitely worth the price. The chopper is easy to use and clean, and it feels sturdy and well-made. However, I did find that it struggled with harder nuts like almonds. That being said, it works great for softer nuts like pecans and walnuts. Overall, I highly recommend the HIC Manual Nut Chopper to anyone who frequently uses nuts in their cooking or baking. It's a fantastic investment that will save you time and energy in the kitchen

Works well

Purchased to grind dog treats to make food topper for my dog's dry kibbles. I needed a manual one so that I can take to camping, beach, etc. and don't have to look for power source to use. I also wanted a simple one so that I don't have to struggle to clean. The bottom part is made of real glass, which I like - easy to clean. The grinder part is aluminum, and the top cup(?) is plastic with a lid. I can grind treats at home, then take to outdoor. This is a very basic manual grinder that satisfy my simple objective. The grinder is coarse, and there is no adjustment. If you need coarse-fine adjustments, look for other options. The grinder part is delicate, including the handle. If you place something hard, it will break. I see why people saying "OK with walnuts, but NOT with almonds." If you want to grind or crush hard nuts or food, go get electrical one.

Does not chop as well as the old one we had similar to this but is good for most nuts.

I purchased this because my old one over 60 yrs old broke when I dropped it. This one is like my old one. Now I don’t have to chop nuts by hand anymore. It grinds them up perfectly for cookies or any recipes where chopped nuts are needed. Only about 1/4 cup can be done at once, but the jar holds about 1 cup.

Fine for walnuts, OK for pecans, too wimpy for almonds. The tines are weak and prone to getting bent when grinding hard nuts like almonds so you have to go slow and grind only a few nuts at a time. Handle is small and a little awkward to operate. It’s ok. Just don’t expect too much.

Very happy with this product. Work as expected

This nut grinder worked well for a short time and produced nicely ground nuts. However, it feels physically rough and cheaply made. The hand crank is very thin and has no grip, making it hard to hold onto and easy to slip during use. The plastic body is also difficult to handle comfortably. It functioned properly for 4 uses, but on the 5th use, the internal mechanism broke. When it failed, the thin, slippery crank caused my thumb to get sliced. If you’re looking for a very short-term, disposable product and have strong hands with good grip and dexterity to manage lightweight plastic and minimal metal components, this might work. Otherwise, it’s not durable enough for regular use.

I had previously given this item 4 stars, May 2025, I have now been forced to amend this to 1 star as the metal chopping blades and gris are simply not man enough for the job! Since purchasing it I have only used it to chop peanuts (for the birds), and it has been used about once envery 6 weeks. The cutters are not bent and the base plate through wich the cutters go is twisted and is no longer performing the role for which it was advertised i,e, Nut chopper.

I purchased this for chopping nuts, however the tines are not staggered but in line which causes all the tines to contact the nut at the same time and then bend. The tines should be staggered so that they grind rather than crushing the nuts. Also the tines are made of soft metal which in turn causes them to bend and render the chopper useless. For $25.00 I would expect a better product. I only purchased this because it had good reviews, sad that the reviews are so skewed.
