Money well spent
First, let me say that there is no single grill that is right for everyone and fortunately there are lots of choices out there. My son swears by his BGE, my son-in-law loves his gas grill and one of my good friends wouldn't cook on anything but a pellet grill.. and each of them can tell you why their choice was right for them. After doing a ton of research, I concluded that the PK360 was the right choice for me.. and I'm glad that I did! Here's why:Quality: This grill reeks quality. I'm a stickler for quality and this grill has thoroughly impressed me from the minute that I opened the boxes. The packaging was well thought-out, the fit and finish of the parts was incredible and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. As I was putting it together I could have easily imagined that I was assembling components for the space shuttle. Yes, you do have to pay a little more for quality but I believe that you generally get every penny returned with interest in in things like ease of assembly, functionality, pride of ownership, customer service and durability.Durability: This thing is definitely built to last! Of course, durability is one of those things that can only be tested by time but, by the way this grill is built, I'm confident that it will be passed down to one of my children or even to a grandchild. The capsule is comprised of two heavy aluminum castings and the grate and grills are heavy marine-grade stainless steel. I had to replace the plated steel grills and grates on my old side-draft grill/smoker multiple times and they needed to be replaced again when I gave it to a friend. I can't imagine that I'll ever have to replace these. The side tables are made with some sort of automotive fiber reinforced plastic that PK calls Durabilium. They claim that they are temperature resistant to 500 deg F. I can only say that I accidentally dropped a hot coal on one shelf while dumping my charcoal chimney and it left no visible damage at all. Pretty impressive!Versatility: This was one of the primary reasons that I chose the PK360 and it has not disappointed me. The multiple cooking modes (direct, 2-zone and low-and-slow) and the precise and very configurable combustion air controls have enabled me to cook things that I never even considered cooking on my old side-draft. All those options and controls do present a bit of a learning curve (which I'm still climbing) but that's half the fun and the resulting cooking versatility is nothing short of amazing. Get yourself a good meat thermometer, watch a few how-to videos, load it up and let the fun (and good eating) begin!Functionality As advertised by PK, the aluminum capsule has a high coefficient of heat transfer and, hence, it does a great job of heat distribution within the capsule. A possible downside to that, however, is that it also effectively conducts heat from within the capsule to the surrounding air. In colder temperatures I have found it difficult to elevate the capsule temperature over 325 deg F. The tool rails on the front of the side shelves are not only attractive; they are quite functional. I hang my cleaning tools on the left rail and my cooking utensils on the right rail - very handy! Cleaning out the ashes is a snap – just pull the plug and sweep the cold ashes out into an ash bin. The side tables are easily removable for cleaning as well. I don't plan to move my grill around a lot but the one time that I have had to move it I really appreciated the clever hinge design that allows the top of the capsule to be easily removed.Customer Support I have contacted PK twice by email. In the first case, I was having difficulty cleaning either grease or olive oil from one of the side tables and asked for cleaning advice. To my very pleasant surprise, they sent me new side tables and asked me to return the originals (at their expense) for testing. In the second case, I had determined that the thermometer was reading considerably low and asked how I could adjust it. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication and confusion (some of which could have been my fault) which led to me becoming a little frustrated. However, in the end the confusion was cleared, the thermometer (which turned out not to be externally adjustable) was replaced and I received an apologetic phone call from customer service and a nice hat and tumbler to compensate me for my trouble. Through it all, I was very glad that I was not dealing with an offshore call center or a third-party retailer but with employees of the manufacturer located in Little Rock, Arkansas. I am convinced that PK genuinely values the satisfaction of its customers. Conclusion $700 is a fair chunk of change to spend on a fairly conventional BBQ grill but I am satisfied that, in my case, it was money well spent. I would have no qualms about recommending the PK360 to my friends or family.

You Won't Be Disappointed.
When they say "It's the last grill you'll ever buy" they're probably right. This thing is built like a tank. Very well packaged (even UPS couldn't destroy it), easy to assemble and solid on its "control tower base". I got it to replace my Weber Smokey Mountain cooker because I wanted a device that I could use for smoking as well as direct/indirect cooking. Time will tell if it does as good a job as the WSM but I can tell already that clean up will be a lot easier. If I have one quibble it's that I think the wheels are a bit too small although that probably won't be a problem since I don't plan on moving it around much. Some have expressed unease over the fact that it's not made in the US but the fit of the cast aluminum seems fine to me. Besides, PK guarantees the capsule against rust, burn out or breakage for 10 years. Bottom Line: If you can get past the price, get it and make sure to put it in your will because it will probably outlast you.Update April 2018.Eight months in we're still impressed with the 360's versatility and performance although there is one issue that is somewhat concerning. Specifically, we've found that when cooking indirect with opposite top and bottom vents open the internal temperature seems to lag a bit. We're using high quality charcoal that has proven more than adequate in the past with other grills. We've also been using the PK heavy duty charcoal basket to contain the briquettes to the hot side. Last weekend we tried arranging the coals directly on the lower grill hoping that it would improve airflow and thus heat. That seemed to help quite a bit so, if you're considering purchasing both the 360 and the basket, we'd advise holding off on the basket whose holes in our case seemed to limit airflow to the coals. Otherwise, the 360 continues to meet all our expectations although we wish the company would offer a post mount accessory which would provide a cleaner installation at the edge of our patio.Update 2: May 2018Further to my first update, I decided to try using the curved charcoal baskets from my old Weber 22" kettle to improve heat while cooking indirect. Problem solved. My advice. Pick up a pair here at Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Weber-7403-Char-Basket) and your 360 will really crank.

1 Year Review - Keeps getting better
I've had this grill for almost one year and want to let others know it is a fantastic grill. I am very pleased with its functionality, durability, and ease of use. It's fun to use and produces excellent food; especially steak. Here are a couple of pros and cons:Pros:- No gasket to maintain or replace like a typical kamado- 2 zone cooking is awesome with the oval shape- Rugged and sturdy- Portable for picnics and camping- Air control is intuitive and effective- Plenty of space to cook on when paired with extra grate on topCons:- Difficult to clean grease at bottom of grill. I scrape and wipe with paper towel.- Should have come with bucket that hangs and fits below grill to catch ashes- Not enough accessories, like a dividing plate for charcoals for clean 2 zone cooking (e.g. slow and sear divider), better charcoal tray (e.g. Kick Ash),- No factory solution for pure indirect cooking with deflector plateEven with all the cons, this grill is still a 5 out of 5 star rating in my book. It's a shame many do not know about the PK360... I feel like i'm enjoying a treasure by myself. I highly recommend!
