No written instructions
My 1st build with these type of blocks and Mould King and I must say the quality is there. Just be mindful of which way and what order according to instructions and you shouldn't have any issues. If you see a place where glue might be needed, you should probably use it. Well designed and thought out. The top air cleaner needed to be glued together completely. Only complaint is the placement of battery pack making the top 3 batteries of 6 not accessible after assembly unless you remove bottom front of engine, (2 pcs. but tricky). Should have made fake oil pan and have battery pack locked to side. 2 mistakes in instructions and 1 pc missing, well incorrect.

Great overall! Fun as well! But has a few weird places in the instructions that can be confusing to some people especially a younger person trying to put this together. It really is pretty challenging! Awesome value for your money though and fun to see all the moving parts :)Quality of plastic pieces is top notch LITERALLY same quality and durability of name brand Legos! Great attention to detail and looks sick!

standard well fitting pieces, complex design not for beginners
PIECES are standard size. Piece mating was within reasonable spec for pretty much everything, all friction components performed as expected. The only things that came loose on me were some single stud decor pieces not critical to mechanical function and fixed with a tiny dab of glue.INSTRUCTIONS present the steps in what is a complex layered build quiet well for the most part. There were a handful of spots where just the dimensional reality of the work wasn't able to be as blatantly obvious when printed in 2D as it is with any other brick kit. In those instances I find it a matter of relying on experience with technic pieces and trial and error.ASSEMBLY is matter of stacking and stacking and stacking your technic pieces and sub-assemblies. There are points where finger placement means the difference between securing a current piece or popping a previous one loose. The chain drive is fickle, I recommend rigging the motor in for a trial before covering over that section just so you can know if you've got a gear slippage problem or not. And if you've never done a piston build take a moment to ensure you've aligned everything correctly because snapped the crank shaft the first time you power it up at the end of a build because one tiny connector was backwards is a quite frustrating thing. Expect this build to consume a good portion of your time.DESIGN wise I really dig the exposed pistons. I did two other Mould King engine kits earlier this year both of which had their internals fully covered up so I think its nice change of pace to get a look at that action. Another thing I appreciate, and it might seem trivial until you've experienced the alternative, is putting the power switch where I can actually get to it. You'd think that would be a given but I just did another off-brand motor kit that hid the switch such that I had to flip the thing upside down to star it, annoying.

Doesn't work...
I am not happy with the purchase, the motor does not work. I reached out to the manufacturer and they have not responded, it's been over a week, Amazon tells me they can not replace the motor so I would have to rebuild the entire engine, with they way my hands work this is not going to happen so it will sit build just not run....I will not purchase from this manufacturer again and I don't recommend it...

Awesome AMG engine
I love the mould king engine lineup. This one is no exception. Super fun build, not over challenging in any way for intermediate level builders and above. The value for the money is awesome as it has power functions and alot of detail. I actually have the even larger version of this same engine from mould king as well, (the silver one) and this was just as fun to build. All in all, highly recommended.

Very detailed model, needs experience to build, but I can highly recommend! The only flaw: manual illustrations should be more detailed in some stages!

The Finished Product Was Worth the Annoying Aspects
The media could not be loaded. I got the boxer engine set which is renowned among Porsche and Subaru fans. The supposed advantage boxer engines offer is that it minimizes vibrations by orienting the reciprocating pistons horizontally, instead of a traditional vertical or V-pattern placement. It also enables the center of gravity to be lower within the engine bay compared to traditional motors. That being said, it was a fun but very frustrating experience, taking me about 16-18 hours over four days to build. Read on for some specific feedback:- Comparable to the Lego brand, not to the same degree of sturdiness, but still decent enough with some uniquely-shaped parts.- Some attachments to the relatively sturdy frame are not securely fastened and can easily fall off much to your annoyance.- Was only missing one non-essential part that isn't noticeable.- The printed instruction manual needs better contrast to allow consumers to better distinguish between black and blue parts.- The instructions are illogical at times, where it repeats the same steps for identical parts, but then tells you to do it x-times in other places. Also, the order in which some parts are assembled seems to make it more difficult, making you question why didn't they sequence it differently?- The parts aren't realistically to scale, such as the piston heads being absurdly tiny and being 12 in total. The largest boxer engine commercially available offered six pistons at most.- After fully assembled, one of the piston connecting rods fell off the crankshaft and crankpin while test running the engine. It was a pain trying to access the issue in order to fix it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again.- The internal moving parts are difficult to see, so it would have been better if one side of the engine block was transparent to rectify this.- Despite the various issues, the end result/final product is pretty cool -- enough to make me forget about the various annoyances (almost).
