Quality.
Alright here's what you need to know. I collect these multi tools for fun, and perhaps a little pride. The Gerber truss is probably one of the best for the money that I've seen in a long time, that is if you can get a good one, it's a roll of the dice and it's across the board for all models and makes. The first one right out of the box, was perfect in every way and a delight, so I bought another one and it was a joke, the pliers misaligned, one handle sloppy the other one too firm and a number of tools collided, the Phillips screwdriver doesn't fit the screws, the file not very sharp and the locking mechanism didn't work very well on on one side, it's too loose. About the only thing worth having was the Awl. Obviously it's a return. So what are you getting with the Gerber Truss, if you get lucky and get a good one. It's for medium-duty don't push it too hard or it'll probably get bent out of shape. What I can tell you is the tool combination is one of the best, and you couldn't get me to part with my first one for anything. In conclusion my advice would be if you want it to last, it should be for display purposes only. That way it'll last you a long time, but you may have to dust it off occasionally. Like I say I collect these things, and they are for display only.Sorry if I burst your bubble. I'm not saying not to buy it, it's worth the risk. But if you get a good one, don't try it again.Update;I've had my Gerber trust for a while now, and it's needed a few adjustments as it gets broke in a little bit. So it might be worth your time to buy a good number 9 star bit. It really is for display purposes. The metal frame is made of a very hard lightly brittle spring metal plus it's quite thin, so if it gets sprung will affect every tool in the unit. Just flexing the tool will cause collisions with a number of tools. There is only one narrow bridge that connects the two pieces as one in the handle, and at the other end is a plastic cap. You probably want it loose because if you tighten it, it affects the tension on the tools and can cause collisions. Therefore it's a balancing act between the bearings and the plastic caps. Conclusion, I was very careful with mine, as I'm a mechanic. It's great to show Friends and use as a conversation piece. In that way the Gerber truss has a lot going for it. But I can assure you, if you TRY to use it AS A TOOL, EVEN ONCE IT WILL GET BENT OUT OF SHAPE, and you probably won't like what you see. So enjoy it as a novelty piece.

Perfect choice for outdoor activities and gift
Overall, I can’t complain.Sheath is included in packaging… I don’t like it so I’ll carry the tool in my bag though.Knives, scissors, and saw came very, very sharp hence you have to be very careful and no sharpening is required. It is well lubricated with oil everywhere. I’ll see if the sharpness lasts long after many uses and edit this review. The difference between swiss army knife and this is definitely a plier and it works flawlessly. But I agree other reviews saying that it doesn’t look like it will endure super heavy uses such as desperate hold or strong torque. And yeah, it is needle nose plier, definitely not for plumbing jobs even if it was a stand alone plier.Hence I’ll spare this plier for minor repairs or emergency situation, not for major repairs. 20-30$ stand alone pliers at shop will work better and sturdy. Oh and it can only hold things less than like 2 inches in diameter since it can’t be open wider. You can’t expect it to work like smooooth butterfly knife like a contract killer or spy’s knife, even if it is butterfly “style”, in fact you can’t open it using only one hand.Size is just about fine, even small and compact enough for women to handle it. I’m not saying it is too small for big men.I found few drawbacks. Inner side(or center) tools especially awl, are very hard to pull out with your nail, I almost broke my nail while trying it. There’s no way to pull out awl without pulling out all other tools first for me, but thinking of frequency of usage of it, it’s fine. All other tools can be drawn out with little force. Either pinching it or hold a little handle.Tool locking mechanism and a spring inside is a little too tough so the lever digs in to my finger and it hurts. But it never let go extended tools accidentally so it is not that bad.If you have a boyfriend, husband, friend who’s into fixing things or any outdoor activities, give them this as a gift. They will shed a tear in joy and carry it everyday for sure.

A good, useable tool for everyday carry.
A good, useable mid size multi tool. My main complaint about all the multi tools that have the blades on the outside of the handle is the lack of finger guard to keep you from cutting yourself. I am carrying one right now because the sheath makes it very easy. It is easy to open and use as a set of pliers. My other complaint about ALL MULTI TOOLS is the lack of better materials. LEATHERMAN is now using SV30N stainless steel and MAGNA CUT for its premium tools. EVERYBODY SHOULD BE USING PREMIUMS STEELS FOR THEIR BLADES!!!
