Series 1 or Series 2...which one is right for you?
I already owned the "Series 2" Ta-Da folding chair from Step2Gold, so when the chance to check out the Series 1 came up, I had to jump at the chance. This review will be a sort of comparison between the 2 chairs, so you can decide which one might be the way to go. Let's look at how the 2 differ.Deployment - both chairs are pretty easy to unfold and refold, but there are key operational differences. With the Series 2, you unclip the seat and push on the lever where indicated. With the Series 1, there's a collar you have to twist to the "unlock" position, and then unfold the chair. Both are pretty simple to use, but the Series 2 is definitely a bit easier and more intuitive. Not that it's a night and day comparison, it really isn't. If I had to give it a numerical value for ease of use, I would say the Series 2 is around a 9 in ease of use (extremely easy), whereas the Series 1 is maybe an 8. Still not hard at all.Size and weight - the Series 1 takes the gold here, because it's slightly smaller and lighter than the Series 2. If you're looking for something light and compact, the Series 1 is definitely the way to go.Weight capacity - the lighter build of the Series 1 means it can't take quite as much weight as the Series 2 (265lbs vs 300lbs), so if weight capacity is a concern, the Series 2 is definitely where you want to go.Comfort - I find both the Series 1 and Series 2 to be pretty much equal in comfort - they're both quite pleasant to sit on, and neither really takes first place here. They're pretty much equal.Additional features - the main standout feature of the Series 2 is the built-in phone holder. I'm a big fan of that, so if you like the idea of having a spot for your smart phone, definitely check out the Series 2. If that's not a concern at all for you, then the Series 1 is a fine choice. Both chairs are quite stable (make sure you sit on them properly), though neither is height adjustable. The chair height seems pretty good for most folks, from my experience, though they may be a bit short for the extremely tall among us.Both the Series 1 and Series 2 are extremely well made and well worth their asking price. Which one you choose will depend on what features you find most important. Both are excellent choices, and I hope this side-by-side comparison helps you decide which one is for you.As a side note, I'm still hoping they come out with an "Ultimate version" made of all carbon fiber. Fingers crossed.5 stars, highly recommend.

An amazing invention for anyone that likes to take a load off, no matter where they are
I got this can seat transforming wonder gizmo when I realized how handy it is to have somewhere to sit at all times (heart problems sweeping through the family these days). Short of a full two handled walker with a full seat built in, this is a much less cumbersome option for when you just need to be able to rest for a little bit. I'd love to see one of these made in a trekking pole style, but that's just a wish list.As a cane, it's 100% functional as long as it's range meets your height requirements. The vertcial adjustment is only available while the seat is popped out, not when it's collapsed. So, it can't be accidentally released from a higher position to a lower position when you're using it in cane mode. The mechanism that deploys the chair is nothing short of amazing. I have all kinds of camping gadgets that open and close, collapse, fold and otherwise recombobulate into camp versions of regular furniture. This one puts them all to shame. The operation of the seat open/close mechanism is truly second to none. Twist and it drops to the seat, even while you're leaning on the cane. Twist and pull up then use your free hand to click the seat around the mechanism and cane pole (it's done when you hear a small click) and it's back to walking mode. The video someone posted having trouble collapsing it has not been my experience at all, it's very easy to collapse. The carry bag is nice, but as this is basically a full time, every day carry, kind of device it will likely stay out of the case forever. The seat is surprisingly steady and comfortable. I'm just over 220 pounds and it feels just fine, no sense of impending doom when I lower myself onto it. The leaves of the seat have a slight downward angle that spreads your weight very nicely across your entire back side, not leaving one spot on each half with a pressure point. I don't get the sense that I'll ever have my butt fall asleep. As for value, it's somewhere in the neighborhood of ten times the cost of a cane, about four times the cost of a cane and a chair, and actually a bit less than the last walker we bought in the family. From my perspective, it's actually cheaper than the alternatives, and thus a superb value.I'll be recommending these to anyone I know in need of a little extra stability and a place to set down once in a while.
