Even In Arcadia

I’ve been playing this on repeat over and over since it was released Thursday night. This album is all good. Not a bad song on the thing. My favorites are Look to Windward, Emergence, Past Self, Caramel, and Gethsemane. This album is so interesting to hear with the musical breakdowns and change ups. Different styles; hip hop, rap, jazz, electric, pop, metal it’s got it all. Every musician is fantastic and they do the deity known as Sleep a reverential ritual every song. This feels like a very emotionally revealing album for the band and it works brilliantly. I bought the CD form which is great except I wish the lyrics were posted but they are not. Very bare bones slip with band name and record label. This goes with the Sleep Token aesthetic or lore so I get it. Just something I like to have to learn the lyrics of songs. Anyway, fantastic album. Like the title says, just buy it!

So I'm sure this review will get lost in the jumble of reviews, both positive and negative im sure, how could this not be mixed? But I've spent quite a bit of time with this now, so while late, I've listened to it more than a few times. So first impressions were that this was too candy coated musically but dark in an understandable way lyrically. The 'beats' that we have seen prior are back in full form. The music is 'less heavy' in general compared to eden. The oddity of it is that while in general this may seem a softer album, when they go heavy on it, it is skull crushing. So here is my general impression. It radiates the tension, that dark mysterious sound sleep token created with eden...mostly. The softer side of the album sets the mood and the tension for when it goes all out metal core, but this is sprinkled in very sparingly. The melodies are catchy...very catchy but even though this is less metal, the music has substance, nuances...and the climaxes completely knock it out of the park. The dark mysterious sound i spoke of worked its way through the entire eden album...they don't quite hit that here. I think it gets lost a bit in provider and damocles. Both songs are excellent, don't me wrong, but they are a bit 'outside the flow' if you will. That sound begins to resurface at the beginning of Gethsemane and is back in full force by the end, and continues into the heaviest riff sleep token have ever produced in infinite baths. End game is, I have listened to this over and over, and my big concern was whether it would hold up in the long run as their other albums have...it does. If you want a gage on the 'heaviness factor', to me it is close in general to this place will become your tomb, but also showcases some of the most bone crushing riffs in their career. Sometimes one must be patient and you will be rewarded!!

This album is packed fully of amazing music. You know how you spend your hard earned money on albumsnto havingnone or two good songs? This album is ALL solid music with indepth lyrics and takes you on a journey. You can feel the bands turmoil, fight and redemption and its something you just have to experience. Buy their album you won't be disappointed.....

The Sleep Token – Even In Arcadia vinyl is absolutely stunning, both visually and sonically. The pressing quality is excellent, with clear, rich sound that really captures the band’s atmospheric and emotional style. Arrived with a crack on the front of the case, but CD was undamaged. Overall, happy with my purchase.

When I first heard their song "Emergence" on the radio I was immediately intrigued. About two minuets into the song I pulled my car over and was absolutely captivated. Around the 2:40 mark I was absolutely gob smacked and hit record on my phone as I knew I had to find out what this song was. I cranked up the radio and found myself completely present. The piano/ sax outro hit me much in the same way that faith no more's "epic" did the first time I heard it in 1990. When the song was over I just sat in my car for several minuets on the side of the road just trying to take it all in. Needless to say I was hooked and bought the CD. Why the CD? This is one of those albums that you load up into the stereo, turn off the lights, lay back, and soak it all in. This album led me to all of their other stuff including hidden identities and rabbit holes of previous projects. I'm older. My days of angst are long gone and music just doesn't hit the same way it use to - but this right here... this absolutely hit hard!

The mix feels warmer and more expansive than previous records, with a sense of light and clarity that suits the album’s themes. Piano, strings, and synths are woven together with incredible restraint — nothing is wasted, nothing overcrowds the space. When guitars arrive, they feel earned rather than explosive by default. The heaviness here is often emotional before it’s physical, and that choice gives the album a quiet confidence. There’s a near-classical sense of balance at work: moments of stillness, gentle tension, then release. It’s cinematic, but not indulgent. The restraint makes the crescendos feel monumental. Vocals: Vessel at his most expressive Vessel’s vocal performance here is exceptional. There’s less theatrical desperation than earlier records, replaced by something quieter and more controlled — which somehow makes it more powerful. He sings with a kind of resigned grace, often sounding as though he’s already accepted the outcome, even while mourning it. The layering of vocals is beautiful and purposeful: harmonies that feel like echoes of memory, distant doubles that sound like thoughts you can’t silence. When he does push his voice, it cuts straight through the mix — not for drama, but for truth. Standout moments: subtle power over brute force Rather than obvious “singles”, Even In Arcadia rewards full listens: The opening track sets the tone perfectly — elegant, aching, and spacious, like stepping into a ruined paradise that’s still breathtaking despite everything that’s been lost. Mid-album tracks lean into melody and atmosphere, letting emotional weight build gradually. These are songs that grow with every listen rather than hitting instantly. The heavier moments feel restrained and purposeful, serving the narrative rather than dominating it. The closing stretch is particularly strong — reflective, stripped back, and quietly crushing. Themes and cohesion: myth as emotional language The Arcadia imagery works beautifully — not as a concept album gimmick, but as a metaphor.
