Q: Beginner Question: I have four 100 watt panels going to a 30 Amp MPPT type controller, any suggestions as to which of these is the correct size amps?

Short answer is probably the 400v 30 amp breaker to match your mppt controller. Long answer is it can depend on how your solar panels are wired, in series or parallel. In series the voltages add up (most 100w are around 20v or less) and the amps stay the same. In parallel it’s the opposite. Since your four panels is under the amp and voltage limits whichever way they are connected and the mppt charge controller maxes out at 30 amps, the 400v 30A breaker will work just fine.

This disconnect is rated at "30 Amps", which requires the wire to be 10awg to carry that amount of current. Wire size: 10 Gauge / 2.588 mm
