Is it noisy? Does it tick?

It does not tick. However I do think the buttons to set different things are noisy. Also when sheep's eye open or close there is a clunk noise that I think is quite loud. Hope that helps. TERESA.

Is it battery operated?

You can operate Sam using not included batteries (4x 1.5V AA – new alkaline only! No zinc-carbon – not included) or using the included USB cable. How long do the batteries last?

Dear Tina, When using batteries, make sure you are using good alkaline batteries. Also we advise you to limit the nightlight to 5 minutes and select lowest brightness in the settings menu. Only then batteries will last around 4 weeks with normal use. With other settings the battery life will be decreased significantly. Best is to use the usb cable which is also delivered with SAM, as the quality of batteries is very varying. Regards, ZAZU
