Great sump dome cover
Great sump dome cover! Glad I ordered it since I was initially on the fence. It is very well constructed in terms of material, so now I understand why it is priced the way it is. My sump pit was originally covered with a piece of wood that was sealed with silicon caulk, so I had no access to check on the pump. My pump ended up going out and I had a little bit of flooding in my basement. Luckily was able to catch it before spreading too far and decided I needed a way to access and test the pumps as well as maintain radon venting. This dome was the solution. My pit was not standard, a little over 16 inches in diameter, but this cover fit well over it. I was able to get a 1-1/2 inch pipe through the pre-cut hold for the sump pumps to drain out and a 3 inch screw on fitting for the radon pipe. There is a provided rubber sealing piece for the sump drain pipe, but I was not able to get it to fit in the hole with the pipe. Maybe you have to drill a slightly larger hole, but I just used some clear silicon caulk to seal it. I had to use some elbows on the radon pipe since the dome was a little taller than where my existing radon pipe was. I didn't want to drill into the sides of the dome since I feel like it would be easier to service or take apart from the lid cover. I then used a hole saw to drill a 2 inch hole for the rubber wire insert that is provided. Since I put in 2 pumps, I had to drill two holes in to the insert, but was easy enough to do. I still need to screw into my floor, but for now sealed all around with silicon. One Con: The plugs for the screw threads that the bolts go into can fall out. I did have one fall out when I was putting the access side of the cover on, but luckily it didn't go into the pit. Be careful of this and maybe when I take the access cover off next time, I'll put some duct tape to hold the plugs in place a little better. I see the point of being able to swap them out, but they should secure better so you don't lose them in the pit.

Great solution, but I wish the one panel was see through
This is a great solution for a sump pump pit where some water in the bottom may lead to a musty smell. I didn't buy this for radon or any other reason. Install was easy, but be careful you don't a captive nut off the back while adding one of the finishing panels on the top - I didn't have this happen, but it could. The only thing I wish was that the removable access panel was clear, or had some kind viewport so you could shine a flashlight and confirm all is ok - i know it isn't needed, but it would be nice.Oh and NO THANKS to AMAZON selling it as "USED LIKE NEW" claiming it was well packaged - the parts bags were open and the box was not well sealed. all the screws and nuts were rollling around inside the box - luckily nothing was lost in transit - but AMAZON does NOT inspect this stuff. They just slap a label on and ship it back it out.

Does what it needs to do...
Used this to seal a sump pump pit that had a nasty smell coming from it. Once I got the new pump installed and re-piped, and sealed all the wire entry points, this has eliminated the odor completely. It's very nice to be able to open the larger half of the cover to inspect the pump when needed. The cover is very sturdy, and has a 3" threaded opening on the stationary side of the top in case you want to add a radon mitigation system to your sump pit. I actually did a radon test with the cover off, and had no problem with that, so I just screwed a 3" pvc pipe plug into it. What a great improvement, and it looks great too...

Good but had to drill out two holes
I wanted my 1-1/2 sump pump discharge PVC pipe to exit from the top. The existing two holes are a 3 inch threaded hole, which I plan to use for a radon vent pipe, and an unthreaded 2 inch hole. The rubber gasket that fits that hole is too small for a 1-1/2 PVC pipe - I needed a 2-1/4 inch hole, and enlarging a 2 inch hole to 2-1/4 inch is not easy. A hole saw needs a small hole for the pilot bit, so I had to place a scrap piece of wood inside the 2 inch hole so the pilot bit had something to drill into. But it worked out nicely. I then had to drill a 2 inch hole on the side, so I could bring the electrical connections from the side. Lots of work to get the setup the way I wanted, had to buy a 2-1/4 hole saw (I had a 2 inch one), but fortunately the design of this radon cover allows customization.

Well Engineered -- Worth Every Penny
Very well engineered. At first glance you may wonder why you're spending $100 on a sump pump cover, but this thing is well designed and thought through. I'm using this as part of a radon mitigation system. There is no skimping on fittings and various pipe seals/flanges. They even included a drilling template for the sump pump discharge pipe . Typical design is to have the discharge pipe come in from the side and the radon vent from the top. Cords come in from the top (even though mine enter from the side. Snugs up to the floor for air tight seal. I didn't understand how a 3" PVC pipe was going to work from the description but you'll need a 3" PVC threaded adapter from Big Blue or Big Orange. The black ring is included with the dome cover and has a seal on the back side. Sure you can spend $30 for a piece of Plexiglas and silicon chalk but after installing this and seeing the quality of the work, why go there. Jackel gets an A+ here. See photos.
