GREAT Pictures.
Like being there! This KANGERO series truly captures the feeling of the ship. I've been aboard the NEW JERSEY and the MISSOURI of the IOWA class as a visitor - the book brings back the feelings without the tourist guide tape.EXCELLENT SERIES!

Amazing publication.
The only "book" that has ever given so many clear, detailed views (renderings/drawings). I have a number of other books of the Iowa class - this one allows a feeling of actually walking around the vessel.

What can you say about an Iowa class Battle ship that hasn't been said before?
How about I like your new book! 50 or 60 years ago when I was a kid if you looked up Battleship in an encyclopedia most likely you found a picture of an Iowa, You would be hard pressed to find anything else.I built my first model of an Iowa when I was about 8 and I'm still working on bigger ones for Big Gun Warship Combat today. This book is about the Iowa as completed first in the class around 1943.If you look at it at wars end there are many changes taking place. As it sits today it still looks like an Iowa but it's in missile age now. If I have any criticism its that you need to write three more books about this ship. The 3D prints are for the most part great and show detail that you just can't pick up in an old photo. I'm not a big fan of the fuzzy green and red glasses that came with the Arizona book, most of these prints seem to be for normal viewing. There are some captions that need to be corrected before a reprint come out but a great book otherwise.

Five Stars
love these books, especially when concerning capital ships

Not what I was expecting
This is NOT a source book or a detailed examination of this ship as I was expecting. It looks as though someone made an extremely detailed computer model of this ship. The book is simply a collection of computer generated "photos" of that model. There are no cross sections or internal layouts or any technical discussion beyond a 2-3 page introduction. If you are a modeler this book is probably extremely useful. Or if you simply want to view very detailed and pretty computer generated images of the exterior, you'll like this. If you are looking for actual information on the class, don't buy this book.

An American ship gets the Super Drawings treatment
This is the 16th book (No. 16016) in the popular Super Drawings in 3D series from Polish publisher Kagero. It's a stapled, 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" (European A4) sized card cover. There are 80 pages including the card covers which are included in the page numbering for some reason. There is an unbound foldout so be sure this is included if buying second hand. This is the largest ship yet covered in this series although one suspects the Yamato will make an appearance before too much longer. There is an eleven page background, design and development, and operational history supported by a number of tables. This can be considered to be only just adequate but there is a bibliography pointing to more comprehensive sources. The bulk of the book is devoted to the well detailed CAD drawings of the ship. These show the ship essentially as completed, in 1944. They are of very high quality but the camouflage scheme of the time makes for some dreary views since the deck was stained a flat blue. The captions have never been a strong point of this series and that is the case here also. Some important features are ignored entirely (like the conning tower) and others given the barest mention. The foldout features conventional line drawings of the ship in 1/400th scale and many drawings of standard features in larger scales that will aid the modeller who wants to add detail to his model.Highly recommended. If you like previous volumes in this series you should like this one. If you are new to the series this book is typical. The series can use a break from its heavy focus on capital ships and heavy cruisers. I understand a book on a Japanese destroyer will be released soon.

An exhaustive 3D graphic presentation of USS Iowa as launched
Others have pointed out that this is neither a history book nor a photo book, though a very brief history is included. Primarily, it is a portfolio of views of USS Iowa created by means of a computer generated, very detailed image of her exterior as she was when launched. This is important mostly because the distinctive bridge structure that is so noticeable on Iowa class ships was not installed on Iowa until later, so she doesn't "look right" for those familiar with late war and post war appearances. The Iowa and her sisters can be rightly called the last and greatest of all battleships, and all four of them have been saved as museum ships, but all are in the much altered condition that was the result of a complete rebuilding done in the 1980s. To see her as she originally was, therefore, bristling with anti-aircraft guns, is a trip to a vanished world. Also included is a very fine sheet with elevation and plan drawings, as well as detail drawings, that is a masterpiece of technical art.

Good exterior, no interior
I was hoping for good interior shots of the machinery spaces and at least a little more information about the actual construction of the Iowa, but alas, I was disappointed. This would be a good book for a scale modeler
