Important safety item for female hikers and dog-walkers -- excellect quality
Purchased this product a few years ago and carry it regularly when walking my dogs in quiet places where I enjoy the solitude, but don't necessarily feel "safe" from being surprised by an assailant or a mountain lion. This product is made of good-quality plastic and feels like it will last a very long time. It looks like a real pistol, aside from the orange color. It fits into my hand easily and aims well. It comes with a practice canister. The real thing, the pepper spray, is VERY STRONG. Out of curiosity, I aimed it at my kitchen wall, at a three-foot distance. It hit my "target " with no problem, and caused me to cough uncontrollably. I had to wash it off my walls with soap, because it still caused me to cough the next day!!! This stuff is no-nonsense, and a must for all dog-walkers and hikers, especially women. I bought a universal holster so I can wear it at all times while I walk with the "buddies". I recomment this item without reservation. I am buying an extra pepper spray canister to have in reserve.

A decent delivery system for pepper spray.
The device feels good and is easy to use. Even though it is plastic is seems like it will last. Works as described. I tested it. I don't really trust it to work accurately from 15 feet. With the test cartridge about 12 feet gave the best result. I only hope I don't need to use it.

Ergonomic, Natural Pointing, Focused Stream, Orange for Safety
This is designed after a real Walther handgun and even has a grip safety to prevent accidental discharge. It's so realistic that the orange color is necessary to distinguish it from the real thing, but I wish that the frame and grip were also orange; in holster it's indistinguishable from a real handgun. Pointing is more natural than with a canister-held pepper spray and the jet is more focused and lands accurately on target at a greater distance, but proper aiming is necessary. A practice canister filled with water and a target are included. It provides comfort to have an effective deterrent in situations when lethal force might be problematical. Highly recommended.

1+ year of carrying
I've carried the Umarex/SABRE PDP for over a year now, and have a thorough understanding of its various attributes. First of all, this device lacks any real holster support, and finding a practical solution is difficult. I first carried it in a modified nylon holster, which proved to be ineffective at concealing the device. Even with a small size, a good holster is necessary for optimal concealment. I now carry it in a leather universal "Saddle Mate" holster and that seems to do okay. A kydex or fitted holster would make carrying this much better. Secondly, the size of the grip can make it difficult to comfortably grab onto. Length wise, it's okay if you have medium sized hands, but it does not have enough width to wrap your hands around. A larger option would be nice. The platform that the PDP comes in makes it easy to put into action, especially if you are familiar with firearms. I find that my ability to draw this is much faster than a typical OC canister. Also, it points very naturally, and has a good dispersion for what it's made for. I purchased this spray device in hopes to find a reliable non-lethal defense option different from typical canisters, and feel relatively confident in carrying it for self defense. However, if you are willing to compromise on a bit of concealability and convenience, I think the Byrna would be a better option overall, as someone who's carried that as well.
