“A debut that reads like a tattered old favorite.” — Publishers Weekly Uh-oh! Little Owl has fallen from his nest, and his mommy is nowhere to be seen! With the earnest help of his new friend Squirrel, Little Owl goes in search of animals that fit his description of Mommy Owl. But while some are big (like a bear) or have pointy ears (like a bunny), none of them have all the features that make up his mommy. A cast of adorable forest critters in retro, neon-bright hues will engage little readers right up to the story’s comforting conclusion. Review: Perfect for 1-3 year olds - Both of my kids love this book. Fun illustrations and fun story. Great for the 1 to 3 year old range. Review: Little Owl Found… a permanent home with us 🦉 - Someone purchased this book for us several years ago. At first read, I was like ‘wow, this is sort of sad and this owl is a bozo.’ But it was given to us by an aunt so we read it to our kid anyways. Not only did he have an immediate and visceral reaction (he was about a month old at the time), but it is one of the only books that continues to make the cut year after year during mom’s chaotic Marie Kondo purges. We still regularly pick this up as a comfort read and even used it for Halloween costume inspiration one year. The reason I am reviewing it now is because I continue to buy this book whenever anyone is having a baby so it keeps serving me a ‘do you want to review?’ button and I felt it was warranted to finally write one so people know to buy this book because it is an absolute classic. It is goofy, and yes the owl is a bozo, but it’s overall super cute and as my kid got older it became a great conversation starter about what to do if you lost your mom… this book will literally never leave our home and I will continue to buy it for people as long as it’s in circulation! 10 stars from this mom owl.

OMG the best little book!
My toddler loooooves this story. I have almost all the books from this author. I love reading the stories and my toddler enjoys them as they are short, funny and cute. I also love the illustrations. Kids books these days are total crap so I am happy to have come across these books. unique and imaginative.

Such a cute story, & fun to read aloud.
One of my almost-three year old son's favorite authors is Chris Houghton. We have his other two currently available books "SHH! We Have a Plan" and "Oh No, George!". My son loves these books so much, he has heard them so many times he learned some sight words from them. This was the last Houghton book we bought. I think it was Houghton's first, though. The four main characters are so sweet and funny and adorable. The artwork is beautiful. The board book is short. I purchased the board book version of this one because we have the other two in full size (quite big) and wanted something more portable from this author. My son can handle this comfortably in his car seat and it fits in his backpack easily. He loves the book. It stars three of his favorite animals: squirrel, owl, and frog. Of course he recognized the style as being by one of his favorites, so it wasn't a hard sell. Of all the books by this author, this one is my personal favorite to read aloud.

Love the Little Owl, and So Do My Kids!
I love this book, and the illustrations that go with it. I first saw this book in our local bookstore when it was first released. The graphics on the front cover caught my eye (I'm sorry, I do tend to judge books by their cover!). I read it with my son at the store, who was just two at the time, and wound up purchasing it. It became a favorite in our rotation, and he loved to participate in reading it when we pointed to the characters that were not the mother. There was lots of giggling, especially at the end of the story when the Little Owl was about the repeat the story. I've now purchased this book for my nephew, for many people as baby shower gifts (they have a board book version!), and my second child's preschool.

My little one was always so sad to have to return it to the library
We borrowed this book from the library so many times, that after a while it was easier to just buy it. My little one was always so sad to have to return it to the library, and was so excited to be able to have one "to keep". Nearly a year later, he's still pointing out excitedly that 'look, there's no library sticker!' It's such a cute and cuddly story. I've seen reviews that say the ending is not great. To that I say: it's a children's book, not a blockbuster movie. It's thoughtful and cute and just the right sentiment that a little one can understand and enjoy over and over.

Cute!
My kid is obsessed with owls. So, I went on Amazon to find as many board books as possible about owls. I'm so glad I found this one. I love the colors, illustrations, and the cute plot. Totally recommend.

Such a good book for language development!
I purchased this book for my two year old granddaughter who is just developing language. She relates to the little owl and goes through the book by herself, retelling the story. Well worth the purchase for language development and entertainment with a young child.
