Kevin Mccloud's Man Made Home: Series 1 And 2 [DVD]

Well, Grand Designs it definitely isn't! But what an entertaining series. It brings out the more light hearted and witty side of Kevin Macloud, and he genuinely enjoys all the creative projects to make a home to escape from the stress of modern living. The imagination and ingenuity of all the contributors shows how teamwork creates lasting friendships and a sense of achievement. Unlike many building and restoration projects, this series was free of the constraints of planning permission, red tape and financial necessities which hinder many enthusiasts, but the end product was a wonderful achievement. Mr. Macloud's assistant ( a Jim a Courier look alike ) matched him in ideas and good humour. The finished dwelling may not have the five star luxury I would like, but it was well worth watching for sheer enjoyment and a healthy respect for all the wonderful recyclers who do a difficult job. These two DVDs were very good value, and the repetition of previous achievements at the start of each programme made minimal impact on the viewing.Series three, hopefully?

Every penny I earn will now go into a shed fund.The second series is good but a bit gimmicky - the first series is outstanding. It's Grand Designs crossed with River Cottage, and you can't go wrong with that.
