Applied Anatomy of Aerial Arts: An Illustrated Guide to Strength, Flexibility, Training, and Injury Prevention

Vital information on shoulder health!
I've been doing straps for years and take classes with different instructors whenever I travel to a new city. Reading this book was the first time that I'd been informed that my shoulders should NOT pop out of their sockets when I hang or invert. That said there's a lot of information on strengthening your shoulders & rotator cuffs, but not enough on stretching them (to get the range of motion from your muscles instead of your joints).

A must-have for every aerialist!
This book fills in a major gap in the aerial industry! Every aerialist should own a copy - knowledge is power.Understanding anatomy does several things: - it strengthens our technique so we can move and perform better; - it helps us prevent injury by avoiding technical errors, thus reducing stress in the joints; - it helps us teach and explain movements more clearly to our students.Dr. Emily Scherb explains anatomy in a fluid, accessible way. Her writing is clear and concise - she distills challenging anatomy concepts down to the most essential points, and then applies them directly to aerial arts. While this book is no substitute for live training (be sure to work with a live coach when learning aerial skills), it is an incredible resource to support one's aerial training. I highly recommend it!

Very good book
Clearly written and very detailed look into aerial arts and the body. This book does not show many moves or poses but rather how to engage the muscles and the correct and incorrect forms to help prevent injury. This boom is extremely detailed in the muscle group descriptions, probably more detailed than necessary, but still a strong book foe the subject at hand.

Necessary Book for All Aerial Artists
This book has been so valuable to me as an aerialist! I feel like the topics covered in the book are rarely covered in aerial classes and yet so desperately need to be in order to keep us safe in the air. I've bought so many aerial manuals but this has by far been the most useful one. It is worth far more than the price I paid for it. I'm so excited to study this book more and apply all of its wisdom.

A Necessity for anyone involved in aerial arts!
I believe this book is necessary for anyone involved in the aerial community, whether they are a new student, professional, or PT, to help prevent injury and optimize training and performance. This book breaks down moves and techniques in aerial arts and clearly explains difficult concepts about the human body that are important to understand in order to efficiently and safely practice aerial arts. The pictures are beautiful and helpful in visualizing proper technique and understanding which muscles to engage and how.

Not for beginners
It really is amazing and rich in detail, but so much that I couldn't understand. I wish I understood more about anatomy to read this. She does give good explanations in the beginning, but again they are so detailed I often can't remember without having to check backwards a million times (I wouldn't have gotten the digital book if I knew that). I will keep it around and maybe I'll understand it more years from now.

Great for the clinician or artist in you!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. It speaks to two of my passions, anatomy and aerial arts. As a physical therapist, I breezed through this book in a day or two. It is well written, succinct, and provides valuable details and images for the most used skills/positions in aerial. Its a must have for any aerialist or performing art clinician.

Bel libro
Mi aspettavo qualcosa di più dai commenti, più consigli di esercizi, pose ecc anziché un libro su esercizi per prevenire dolori articolari o lesioni. Comunque é fatto benissimo e consiglio!
