ierra Nevada and hops go hand in hand. What began as a crazy idea scribbled in a pub eventually became their newest year-round hop bomb, Torpedo Extra IPA. The first beer to feature their revolutionary dry-hopping device that controls how much hop aroma is imparted into beer without adding additional bitterness. Torpedo Extra IPA is an aggressive yet balanced beer with massive hop aromas of citrus, pine, and tropical fruit.

An American IPA at Trappist strength (7.2%)
*Not Amazon 'verified' as I bought this locally when it was on an offer at a pound a bottle :)This beer pours an orange-yellow-brass colour, like cayenne with a bit of turmeric. Smell is orange/citrus. With gentle pouring the head is average, lacing too. Give it a bit of a heave into a large glass and the head is bigger, tighter, and the lacing tight and long-lasting. Deep hoppy, fruity, oaty tastes at the side of the tongue, then a longlasting bitter aftertaste at the back of the mouth. If you are deterred from some American-style 'citrus' tasting beers because they are too fruity, you can try this because the citrus aspect is less aggressive. The ABV is 7.2% so you will need to be sitting down and escorted by a nominated, sober minder: this is definitely not a session beer unless you are reliving the film 'Leaving Las Vegas'. My guess is that the citrus 'hit' would cut through fish and chips or (?) a pork chop. Overall, I like it, although the strength would deter me from drinking more than one bottle at a time.
