Lovely Book!
A really lovely and educational book for wee ones! I bought it as a gift for a friend’s little boy but I am planning on repurchasing for my youngest’s first birthday as it is really gorgeous.

Disappointing writing in this book compared to other Chris Ferrie books.
Chris Ferrie has created the brilliant "... for Babies" series. We've bought loads of these for ourselves and as presents for others. We've recommended them to plenty of people as well. On the basis of those books, we bought this - a world of difference (no pun intended). In the "... for babies" series his short punchy writing style is a brilliant accompaniment to the pictures. Here he tries to use a different writing style... and it's really poor. He's trying to write in verse but it seems like he has no sense of rhyme or rhythm."8 little planets with the Sun at the center.Does each one wish it were a little bit better" - Apart from the complete fail on the rhyme, I don't even know what he's trying to say here. It's like he couldn't think of anything better and just thought "Oh this'll do".The book is beautifully colourful and physically attractive. Although, on some pages, there is so much going on, that the central theme of the page (the planet in question) kind of gets lost. The idea of the book is great, but the sort of fun that many authors have, using rhyme and tempo in language that is to be read aloud to kids, is missing here. If someone else had provided the writing to support Chris Ferrie's imaginative ideas, this could have been a great book.Second reviewer feedback(!) - Our son has complete free reign over which books he wants read to him and (unlike other Chris Ferrie books) this one hardly ever gets picked.UPDATE:I've updated our score on this as our son picks this one quite regularly now. As above, it is a beautiful little book.... in its concept, layout and presentation (it just has incredibly clunky writing!)
