Great Travel Router with Advanced Features
I recently purchased the GL.iNet GL-BE3600 (Slate 7) and it’s quickly become an essential travel companion. What I Love:• Blazing-fast Dual-Band Wi Fi 7: Up to ~688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and ~2882 Mbps on 5 GHz, allowing seamless streaming and fast browsing.• Portable Touchscreen Interface: The intuitive color-coded touchscreen makes switching modes, scanning networks, and toggling VPNs very easy.• VPN Support: Built-in OpenVPN & WireGuard offer strong security and impressive VPN performance (up to ~540 Mbps with WireGuard).• Dual 2.5 Gb Ethernet + USB 3.0: Offers flexibility for wired connections and extra devices• OpenWrt Compatibility: With customizable firmware and plugin support, tech-savvy users can tailor the router extensively• Compact & Travel-Friendly: Small enough to fit in a bag or pocket, with support for US/UK/EU/AU plugsMinor Drawbacks:• Learning Curve: Initial setup and navigation of OpenWrt and VPN configurations can be a bit technical for non-experienced users.• Cable Quality: The included USB C cable may not always feel robust, and using a higher-quality spare cable is recommended. This is a smart purchase for frequent travelers, remote workers, or anyone needing secure, reliable internet on the go. It combines blazing-fast Wi Fi speeds, strong VPN support, and customizable firmware in a compact design. Beginners may need a little time to adjust, but once set up, it delivers excellent performance. I highly recommend it for those looking to upgrade hotel or public Wi Fi setups.

Outstanding Travel Router That Delivers Speed and Security
This little router has been a standout piece of my tech kit for both travel and home use. It connects reliably and handles busy environments, hotel Wi‑Fi, and cruise ship networks with ease, thanks to fast Wi‑Fi 7 speeds and dual 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports. The touchscreen on the front makes switching modes and checking connection status quick and simple. Using OpenVPN and WireGuard built-in gives me peace of mind when I’m on public Wi‑Fi networks. Setup was straightforward, even for someone not entirely tech-savvy. The interface feels intuitive and powerful, and the build quality is solid and portable. It’s compact enough to slip into a bag or pocket. Battery life and power delivery have been reliable so far. Simply put, this router offers top-tier performance for anyone needing secure, fast internet on the go. Five stars from me.

Great Buy.
This device boasts a range of impressive features, such as VPN, Wireguard, server and client setup capabilities, compatibility with USB 2 and 3, and support for Wi-Fi 7 and 6. It is designed to facilitate logins to business sign-in portals. Additionally, it offers guest network profiles, parental device options, a display with an action slider, and a 2.5 WAN port. Furthermore, it supports optional app installation and consumes approximately 3.5 to 4 watts of power, generating heat that reaches 60 to 63 degrees Celsius in a room temperature of 73 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The fan activates at 70 degrees Celsius, and the device requires a 9V 3A power supply. While it is relatively portable, it may not be as lightweight or compact as older AC travel routers, and it may be considered expensive for those on a budget. It appears to be a suitable device for individuals with numerous devices or families on the go, allowing for a single setup to connect everyone. Seems reliable in weeks work of testing.

Trustworthy manufacturer
In comparison its Slate AX brother, this device delivers less jitter and latency thanks to WiFi 7. In part due to a mix of convenience and circumstance, my work PC must see a wired connection. It often handles VOIP & other VPN traffic. By combining a powerful wifi 7 router and this travel router as a wifi client, I remain assured this is the most ideal connection for the use-case. The Slate 7 is the best wifi client (Extender mode) because I can turn off its radios in the settings (before enabling Extender mode) which is not a function of other products. As a bonus, I don't have to deal with an app. I am also very conscientious of limited space, which is why I opted for this one instead of other Gli.NET products that basically do the same yet have some more horse power. If you have an older console like a PS4, PS3 or just older PC, then this is the perfect solution to fixing lag. You can set it up as a wifi bridge (Extender mode) and connect multiple devices. If you need more ports then get a switch too. The WiFi 7 antennas are pretty good on Gli.NET products. The problem with other routers is that they have a fraction of the freedom and functionality that OpenWRT provides. Open Source is always reliable from a security perspective & I like how the manufacturer is maintaining their products with updates (which in turn helps OpenWRT if coded is upstreamed). With the recent news about Netgear and Asus essentially allowing botnets into their products by not focusing on security, using Gli.NET products really puts my mind at ease. The Slate AX will become my new travel router since it generally has the same features as the Slate 7: WireGuard VPN, DNS ad/malware/bad site blocking, guest wifi networks, easy configuration thanks to Gli.NET's interface, port forwarding, etc. I'm genuinely impressed by these products as they can also be drop-in gateways in a pinch like when your current router dies or you need to create a secure network for your devices. It's awesome.I feel like the MSRP is a bit much and I'm glad it was on sale when exploring resolutions for my latency troubles.
