Guillow's Messerschmitt Bf-109 Model Kit

I have put together a number of these models, but this is the first laser cut one that I've built. I will never do a die-cut again. So much easier to separate parts without breakage. The instructions are the same Guillow's instructions that they used 50 years ago. They still work but sometimes require a little study.

Love the laser cuts. Very detailed model.

Happy with the fast service but a little disappointed with the kit. The materials are not made as good as in the past. A sign of the times, I guess but it wasn't terrible.

so you want to build a balsa kit...total fun until you want to paint it. you need to develop this skill before you try it on the kit you just built. guillow no longer has any paints.soo..when you go to the hobby store.you will find out you are on your own, a lost art .they will tell you to make a test set up a grid with balsa sticks and doped tissue ...and try to see what diffent paints do to it....do it or you will ruin your kit..if you followed guillows book and use wood glue as a dope. the tissue will sag with each painting....good luck, these kits are not for the faint of heart..the guy at our local hobby store started to buid one tossed it in the trash. went back to plastic.

This was a Christmas present for our nephew. As far as the transaction it went very smoothly. He was excited when he opened this present. No update on if he has assembled this project as of today. No complaints.

Great balsa plane. This is the second airplane I’ve build. It went together very easy and was very enjoyable to build. I’m ready to build another.

Guillow makes great kits I've done 2 in the past both turned out great most would say its a lost art but you can still do it when you are coating with tissue you won't be able to find dope but you can use UHU purple glue stic instead but the paint is difficult I have a store of colored dope which is hard to find but I'm sure if you look it up you can find a substitute for dope.

It was a fun build but it takes a lot of patience and time, it is a good kit! I recommend this to people who are getting in the hooby!
