The lumiglow stopped working, does that mean that the battery is low or is the watch defective?

Well if its like other Timex lumiglo watches I have had, the watch has two batteries, one for the light & one for the mechanics of the watch.

can the slip thru strap be replaced with a regular 2 piece strap replacement?

The watch's band can only be replace by a easy slip band. This can't be replaced with a band with a pin.

How many inches long is the watch band?

What is the purpose of the extra attached strap?

To keep the watch from sliding along the strap. Look closely at the metal loop.
