This tool works really well. Bits seem to be tough enough to last for a while. I cut out 5 spot welds with no problems and the bits don't seem to dull down. I used chainsaw bar chain oil for cutting. But use any cutting oil. There's plenty of extra cutting bits in the kit. When you cut your spotweld, predrill a little dimple beforehand. This gives a spot for the pin of the tool to stay centered. The pin is spring loaded so just push down when ready to cut. I used a 1/16 drill bit. Have fun.

This is a cutter to remove spot welds. This is often used to take damaged auto body panels apart so a new repair panel can be welded in.If this is hard to imagine, it is much like removing a Pop rivet, or a blind rivet however you call them. In that case one drills off the exposed part of the rivet with a oversized bit and then sometimes needs to tap the remaining portion out with a pin punch. This is like that in that the metal around the spot weld gets cut out, allowing the parts to be separated when all the welds are gone, perhaps with a air chisel and flat bit.This works well on auto body steel as shown in the video and comes with several replacement cutters, each of which are reversible for many many weld cuts per package.

I'm still on the 1st one after drilling out 10 welds and only had to stop as my 1/8" drill bits for the pilot holes went dull.Good product.

These drills are actually " 3/8" " hole saws, as the pic shows. They are not capable of drilling the weld itself. One saw lasts about 5 welds in automotive sheet metal, with ATF as lubrication. These must be continually lubricated or else they will dull at the first cut. These are HSS, If the bit contacts the spot weld at any point it will not cut anymore. The drill is NOT 3/8", it's actually 10MM which is fine but the drive hex is also 10mm, so if you need an extension for the drill, the standard 3/8" hex extensions won't work. I ended up using a 10mm deep well socket connected to my drill as a driver. These drills must be engaged to the metal slowly. If you have a decent size job, order lots of these, or get a harder bit. I would order these again because they are inexpensive, just order lots.
