it a regular 2DS XL but its region locked to japan and the only way of changing the language is by hacking it

This product will not allow language settings to be set to English. If you know Japanese, or other Asian local dialect, then yes it will be the same. You can play US cartridges, they will play in Japanese. Minecraft is okay, because it is mostly a visual game and not much reading is involved. My nephew (8) seems to be okay with it, for Minecraft. He would not likely be able to play another game (especially learn a new game) on the device).It is a great system, otherwise fine.

The product came as described. It does seem to have a defect with the game card slot cover, which is disappointing.

With a youtube search I was able to change the language my new system!! Its amazing!!!

Very crappy system. It's in japanese yet it never said it was that in the description at all. It's all in japanese and now I have to do alot of work just to use it and read it. DO NOT BUY IT! It doesn't even have a charger with it or any real instructions. Very disappointed and it's the worst purchase I've made so far
