Excellent winter mix for songbirds
As soon as I put out this mix at our new apartment, the songbirds found it and started chowing down. We live in South Central Alaska, so providing quality food to our birds when the snow is 3 feet deep is important. This is the best quality food I've found so far- there's NO filler in the bag, which is why it's so expensive. The birds aren't going to pick through it- they're going to eat the whole thing.Folks that are saying they aren't seeing the variety of birds they want - it's probably for a number if reasons- location of feeder, CATS, lack of water, or you're just missing them. Woodpeckers in particular are very nervous. I suggest putting out a camera. Woodpeckers love this food. Try putting out multiple feeders around your properly.I will say it did take the woodpeckers a while to find this when we put it out- but they have a tendency to be nervous compared to some other birds. So the smaller birds were throwing the peanuts on thr ground, which resulted in the moose finding our birdfeeder. But the woodpeckers do definitely like this birdfood and I do think it is worth the price.

WAY too much corn!
Everything was great except that there was way too much corn, and my chickadees and nuthatches (as well as blue jays) won't touch the corn. Therefore, it's actually cheaper for me to buy 1-lb. jars of unsalted generic peanuts from the grocery store for $1.99 because the birds love them and there's no waste. My birds wouldn't even eat the dried fruit ... maybe because it's winter and the fruit's probably frozen ... but it means that the dried fruit goes to waste, too. Not to mention that, if the peanuts are whole or still have the brown "skin" on them, my birds won't eat them either, and I can't say that I blame them! Again, it's just more economical for me to buy regular unsalted peanuts (for human consumption) from the grocery store; there's no skin on them, and I can break them in half, if they're still whole (or I can eat a few myself, LOL)! But I know that Lyric is a good brand and I will probably try some of their other products, after winter.

Birds Love it!
I have 3 different Woodpeckers, Lots of Cardinals, Blue Jays and more. I mix this bag into their normal feed and they love it. Great buy and the birds need the extra protein in the cold months to keep warm.

Not What I Expected
I thought this would attract a lot of birds, but it didn’t. It seems the birds prefer black oil sunflower seeds instead of this mixture. It did attract one kind of woodpecker. I’m glad I only bought a small bag.
