I have worn this brace for up to 2 hours at a time with no under layer, without any irritation to my skin. However, I have not yet used it during extreme athletic activity where sweat and chaffing might be more likely to occur. I think the risk depends on your personal level of skin sensitivity.

Q: Why does the sizing direction say to measure below the knee but the picture shows a band above it????

The dimensions below the knee vary from person to person. Never measure or follow the manufacturer's recommendations in 100%. I am wearing a size L and that only interests me when buying. The product is solidly made. You will surely be satisfied with the quality. I am a mechanic and spend more than 10 hours a day wearing this armband. Knee Braces has not been damaged since April ! :) Is a really good product.

Q: When my brace arrived the sleeve was very loose and I pulled it on effortlessly. Shouldn't it be somewhat snug even before I tighten the straps?

What size did you get? I had got the large and it was to small for me. I ended up getting an xxl that works better for me. I found that the size chart is not what we are expecting.

Q: I got the largest one and seems to small still. I struggle when I get to my theigh area to pull to center of my knee. Any tips?

I had the same problem when I first put the brace on. I make sure the straps are loose on the back of the brace for bother the top and bottom. Use the tabs on the side to pull the brace up. Sometimes it helps to stretch the brace out with your hands/arms before putting it on your leg.
