FRELAN JW901WH Hardware Surface Mounted Fire Door Closer - White

Really nice little product BUT with a few issues
This is really compact and well designed and is (or should be) very easy to install. It does its job really well and is not unattractive. It is strong so should cope with closing a medium weight door but would, I think, struggle to close firmly if the door catch is stiff, especially if a heavy door. The problems can be overcome provided you know about them:1. The four screws are useless. They are very soft. One of mine just split in two. And the heads are not standard posidrive heads so you may struggle to find a screwdriver to fit. Use your own 35 to 45 mm screws. Thhey need to be thin; number six is just right. (I think that's 3mm).2. They do not supply a tensioning tool. You will struggle with the suggestion of a Philips screwdriver. A bolt (set screw) M8 works fine but you may not need to pre-tension it at all if you only want it to close gently.3. There are four nice plastic caps to hide the screws. Trouble is they will not stay in place without a dab of light glue.It is VERY important to fit this with the arrow pointing along the door (as per instructions). It would not last long otherwise although it would appear to be working. If your door is in a corner next to a wall be really sure that you have enough space. You MUST get the tension right before you fit the unit if you are working in a corner as the wall will not allow you enough space to turn your tensioning tool. This is not difficult especially with an M8 bolt.So I like this but take care.

Would buy again if needed..
Does what it should, and can (pretty easily) adjust the spring's tension...but the screws are fairly budget - one of our kids "over opened" the door and one of the screws snapped in half...Have put it back on, and now just use three screws and it's doing its job well enough..

Don't bother
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Handle doesn't sit flush against the door, therefore cannot provide the resilience required to push door closed as there is no contact whatsoever. On another note, when handle is screwed tightly on, the runners are perpendicular to how they should sit. Images show these two position.

does the job and easy to fit
It was easy to fit and does the job. If you mount it on a surface on the same plane as the closed door. won't push it fully closed. You would have to mount it on an angle. I would not recommend putting the arm in the next hole round as it would make it too strong and harder to open.

Fell to pieces when fitting.
Fell to pieces as I was putting on tension. The springs came out of housing and pushed the casing off. Went straight in bin.
