I really LOVE the Roomba 505 and docking waste station, you probably will too
We have a very large house, 60/40 tile and carpet. Needed something for routine cleaning. Didn’t think the Roomba 505 would even be able to map the house. To our surprise it did it very quickly. Be sure to open all doors and clear as much of the floor of obstacles as possible for the best mapping. The mopping system works really well (I know lots of Chinese models have had similar features for awhile), but I didn’t want to deal with those companies and waited for iRobot to create a model with these features. The 505 does a great job on tile; with first use it filled the out-water tank with blacken water after double pass mopping over what looked like a generally clean tile floor. Couldn’t have been happier. I have returned to update this review to express how happy we are with its tile mopping. Its impressive how much dirt it picks up on a routine basis. I also have deep cleaned the mop pads in my Samsung drawer washer with great results. The dirty tank gets some grime built up in it, but its easy to clean. The vacuum works pretty well, I understand the double brush vacuums do better, but for general use it picks up the stuff I see typically around the house. I use a Mikita duster to blow out the Roomba's dust bin and filter after a couple of weeks, quick and easy. Keep your station maintained and the whole product should perform well. Its easy to do. The iRobot Home app on my iPhone/iPad still needs improvements. It just got its first update today. My house layout is larger than the software developers probably anticipated. It hard to pick rooms by label, without having to zoom in, as the labels overlap on screen during the room selection process. Note: the map can be zoomed in when doing this once you touch some part of the floor plan first. Sadly, there is no simple list view. Setting up different zones, or correcting missed mapping areas is challenging and cumbersome. iRobot needs to continue focusing on UI and usability improvements to this app. It may frustrate some, and lessen the enthusiasm for Roomba and the dock. NOTE: A great feature would be to direct the Roomba to a mis-mapped area, or changed environment and just have it scan and update that part of the map. Especially so for large houses like mine. We have patterned tile floors and Roomba overcleans some areas "thinking" its some stain or mess. Would be nice to be able to mark these questionable areas as "normal". If you interrupt the cleaning with the app or the battery is low on the Roomba, sometimes the Roomba is left in an odd state. For instance, it won't clean the mop when you expect it should. You can manually force the cleaning routines, but only when a minimum level of battery power is available. Just a few things the app has overlooked and hopefully will eventually be addressed. The user experience and quality robotic system is what will make a "premium" product for iRobot. The mechanical units (Roomba and waste dock work well). The water tanks could be twice the size for my house… but most likely designed for a typically sized house. I am surely planning to keep the Roomba 505, as I expect improvements to the app as iRobot gets more feedback on this newly designed combo vac/mop. There are already articles describing and even better (yet more expensive) 705 combo model on the way. If its better than the 505... it most likely will be worth the extra money. Very happy with this purchase after a few weeks of serious use. Will update if that feeling changes. Summary, I recommend this product at its new price point. A few more weeks have passed, the iPhone app as been updated twice. The app could have a few more nice features added, but it works. We have tile floors that have random patterns, there are a few spots the Roomba mistakes as spills and works very hard to clean them up. This is understandable, and wastes time with extra unnecessary trips back to the dock to clean pads. The app needs a feature to mark and ignore these situations. The Roomba itself has been doing a great job. Its been awhile now and the Roomba is used every day for general cleaning. I works very well, with proper care and feeding. I am impressed the tile floors that typically look clean still manage to brown the empty tank with dirt, kudos Roomba. Do pay attention to the removal and cleaning of the water filter in the bottom to the docking station. I didn't realize it was a plastic removal filter that needed periodic cleaning. Be sure to watch some online videos for the care and cleaning of the robot and docking station. There weren't any real instructions for doing most of this sorta stuff in the box. I do machine was the mop pads (in a Samsung drawer washer) and rinse out the dust filters to extend their use. Don't use any fabric softener with the microfiber pads. Try not to over dry the pads in the dryer, best to exchange pads and let them dry normally. Be careful of the slim clear plastic door in Roomba's dust bin, easy to wash out without noticing. I still really find this Roomba extremely useful and continue to recommend it to those that will take time to use and maintain it properly. The iOS apps gets updates, it still needs a few features to make it of "high quality", but for now its useable enough. Lastly, cleaning the "beater brush" would be far easier if the ends slide out and would allow the tangled hair on the ends to be just easily pulled out. Seems like such a simple and obvious solution, it is a pain to have to pull apart and remove the bound hairs when doing general maintenance. This is something iRobot could fix and improve the user experience a great deal since this is a user serviceable part that needs replacing periodically. I suppose this is my biggest complaint. But, far from a deal breaker. More of a WTF, why didn't you just let the ends of the roller brush pull out just make plucking the hair out super easy? For now my wife just makes me do it, actually I do all of it. :-)

Saves hours of effort keeping my floors clean! Minimal maintenance/effort! Dream come true!
I had an older Roomba (i3+), and while it was still doing a good job on vacuuming, I was jealous of my friends who had a mopping robot. My floors are mostly hardwood with some area rugs in the living spaces. I had been researching various vacuum/mop combos and finally took the plunge on this model. I am SO HAPPY and wish I had switched years ago! First, out of the box it took only minutes to setup. Note there was no manual in the box, just a QR code link to an online manual. I assume this is so we will always be able to access the most up-to-date manual. On setting it up in my room, I will note that the base is much "bulkier" than my i3 self-emptying base, but that's due to the 2 water tanks, and I'll take the bulk over needing to fill/empty the robot every time I want to mop! Next I sent it on a mapping run, which with my i3 took about 2 hours to map out my single-story 4 bedroom home. I could not BELIEVE how fast the 505 zoomed across my floorplan. It finished the map in 15-20 minutes. It did a good job at labeling the rooms, and it was very easy to modify the map to separate out a few of our living spaces (we have an open floor plan in the main part of the house). As for the actual cleaning, the new app makes it super easy! I love that I can choose between Vac only, Mop Only, Vac AND Mop, or Vac THEN Mop. You can set it for the whole house or just for selected rooms. You can also set it to run at a certain time of day, so I typically set it to vac then mop when I leave the house for work, and I love coming home to clean floors! The mopping feature using water-only still got up a good amount of dirt. And one of the BEST features is that the vac will automatically empty debris (collection bag inside base), and fill itself with water and empty out the dirty water (you do of course manually have to fill and empty the tanks). I haven't yet tried the iRobot mopping solutions but I hope to purchase some soon. The 505 is only approved for the iRobot brand floor cleaners (I was hoping I could use my existing Bona floor cleaner but it looks like that is not compatible with this model). The mopping does not leave the floors overly wet, they dry very quickly. And when the mop returns to its base it self-cleans and dries the mopping pads. There are also 2 spare pads included in the box. This machine has literally saved me hours a week cleaning my floors. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a robot vac, mop or vac/mop combo!! It's truly the best of both worlds.

PLEASE BEWARE!!!
I should’ve read the reviews and hopefully if you’re here then you will take this review seriously! The Roomba I ordered didn’t work. I kept getting an error message that one of the compartment tray was full when it wasn’t. I contacted Roomba for tech support. No one answers you have to get a call back. Once they called me back they walked over troubleshooting steps and they realized the Roomba was defective. The customer service rep said she would email a list of things she needed me to email her to be able to initiate a troubleshooting ticket to further help me. I had to upload a receipt from Amazon that I bought the item, a video showing the error message spoken by the robot, among other things. I emailed her immediately everything she asked of me. She said they would contact me in 3 business days. They never did! I called them back and had to wait for them to call me back again the customer service rep said they didn’t have no claim for me and had me do the whole process again. I had the old email I sent them but they didn’t care because it’s all a scam. The company has no intentions on following through with their so called warranty. My Roomba was purchased a month before I called them. It never worked. I should’ve been taken care of immediately. I resent the email and waited again 3 business days still no call. I called again and same thing happened. The customer service rep called me back to tell me that they didn’t have a claim for me and wanted me to do the whole process again. By the way they barely speak English. They were waiting for my return window on Amazon to expire so I would be stuck with a broken item that they didn’t have to fix. Luckily Amazon valued me as a customer and processed the return after the return window expired after I told them of the scam the company had pulled. Amazon received the item and I was fully refunded me. The company IRobot Roomba till this day hasn’t called me back or, reached out via email. A $800 equipment not including taxes and when it stops working you are out of that money. They have no intentions on replacing it or, fixing it. Think about that for a second. This company is scamming people and then they ghost you after they have your money. Not to mention there customer service is not in the USA. The customer service reps barely speak English & can barely understand you. Then they treat you as if you’re a burden for calling. The company as a whole is just awful. Don’t take a chance with them, don’t risk it. I promise you that you’ll regret it. Thank God that Amazon cares about their customers and protects their customers unlike IRobot Roomba.

Vacuums great
The IRoomba +505 combo vacuum and mop is an awesome machine that’s made keeping my floors cleaner so much easier. It was easy to set up physically, and once it’s running, it vacuums really well. I’m impressed how it navigates the house and even knows to raise slightly when going over carpet. It’s a very cool feature. The mapping function is smart and being able to program it to clean on his schedule through the app is a huge plus. That said the initial set of process was frustrating. The instructions that came in the box aren’t helpful at all you have to download an app, but even then it doesn’t clearly walk you through everything. It took me a few tries to figure it out and I’m still not completely sure I’m using all the features correctly. As for the mopping, it’s OK. I leave some dry areas and probably isn’t a full replacement for manual mopping but it does work well enough for daily upkeep. The base station does take up a bit of space because of the water tank and the dustbin but that’s expected for a two in one system overall I’m really happy with the cleaning performance, especially the vacuuming, but the user experience could be improved with better instructions and app support.

Fantastic new model worth every penny and minute saved in a busy lifestyle
This new model from iRobot has proven to be a major step up from my previous unit from another brand in the same price range. It does a fantastic job cleaning up my apartment while I'm stuck worrying about other busy life things. It's truly a set it and forget it type device and that's what I need most. I have a two bedroom apartment with 2 small dogs. Most of our floors are either deep piley carpets or smooth white tiles, with a few area rugs here and there. This unit handles them all... thanks to it's mapping features which know when to transition from it's powerful but not offensively loud vacuum to it's really cool dual mop feature to leave my tile floors squeaky clean as to where I'd feel comfortable eating a piece of dropped sushi without worrying about the 5 second rule. (don't tell the wife I did that). The extendable mop pad feature is also very cool - a really innovative idea that makes sure the corners of the room as just as clean, something my other unit did not succeed at. The obstacle detection/camera system seems to work great as well. Long gone are the days of having to prep my room by picking things up off the floor and balancing them on my couches or counters. Avoiding things like wires and my latest amazon deliveries really helps alleviate the burden of having to clean before cleaning. I do still recommend you do a generally good job of organizing your room if you want it to be able to get into certain corners and areas, but it's smart enough to figure out whatever setup you have and this just boils down to good ol' feng shui decluttering. The all in one dock is also a major upgrade. It is quite tall, which works perfectly for our setup as the smaller footprint fits better in my room then previous short and stubby versions and the large refill bins allow me to set it and forget it for a far longer amount of time in between actually having to interact with the unit. Overall, I am super happy with this unit and look forward to many more years of coming home to a clean house before I go mess it all up again.

Quick Mapping, Solid Cleaning and Less Chores
I’ve been using the iRobot Roomba Combo 505 Plus for a little while now, and it’s been a game-changer in keeping my floors clean without me having to think about it. Setup was quick and easy; it mapped my entire first floor in about 30 minutes and was ready to start cleaning right after that. The vacuuming part is surprisingly good, picking up crumbs, pet hair, and dust in places I usually miss when sweeping. The mop function is more of a light daily clean, but it keeps things looking fresh between deeper mops. For stickier messes, I definitely recommend using a cleaning solution since plain water is not always enough, and using the deeper clean option in the app to spend more time on those areas. The biggest win for me is the time it saves, since what used to take me a solid chunk of my weekend is now handled with just a few taps on my phone. It is not completely silent, but the noise level is low enough that I can watch TV or take a call without being distracted. Overall, it does exactly what I wanted by cutting down on manual cleaning and keeping the house looking much tidier day to day. I would absolutely recommend it if you want something reliable and easy to use. Another quick tip - make sure you use a 2.4 GHz WiFi network or setting, as that seemed to work best for me and has been solid from day one.

Leave Your Shoes On!!
No more asking visitors to take their shoes off at the door. This Radical Roomba handles the mess for you. I was honestly embarrassed by how dirty my floors were. I vacuum often because I have two dogs and I mop at least once a week, so I assumed my floors were fairly clean. That changed after using this Roomba. It picked up a surprising amount of dirt. I gave it five stars because I believe it would perform even better in an open-concept home with hardwood, vinyl, or tile floors. It works great in my kitchen, even on the kitchen mat. However, in my living room, it struggles with the rug and gets stuck. It also won’t mop the entire room unless I roll the rug up, which is inconvenient. At times, it runs in circles as if it’s bumping into the same wall repeatedly. One challenge is my dogs. One wants to attack it and the other is terrified, so I can only use it at night when they’re out of the room. That’s more of a personal issue than a flaw in the Roomba’s design. The unit itself is heavier than I expected. I wish the housing had a handle. The tanks have handles, but the housing is difficult to move. That said, once it’s placed, you typically won’t need to move it again, at least I haven’t had to. Another consideration is the space required around the housing. I had to rearrange my home to create an open area with the five feet of clearance needed for the Roomba to exit and return properly. It’s a high-priced item and I wish it did more for me, but that’s likely due to the layout of my home. This product may not be ideal for every household. Since I use it in a relatively small space, about 800 square feet, it’s hard to evaluate the mapping system. It tends to repeat the same circular patterns. The app is simple to use, but make sure the Roomba is plugged in and powered on before downloading and signing in. I made the mistake of starting the app before plugging it in, and it couldn’t find the device. It’s quieter than I expected, which is great since I run it at night due to my dogs. There are some odd noises during mopping and when it docks, but nothing disruptive. I was worried about leaks or puddles, but there were none. Overall, it’s going to take some time to adjust and see how much I truly like it.
