Direct replacement for A1398
I ordered this and rec'd the product. Carefully installed it and found that there was a problem - movement wasn't properly registering when I would drag my finger from top to bottom. There was a section in the middle of the new trackpad that was not registering anything. I returned it for a new one, and the new one did NOT have that problem. All good now. Giving 4 stars because I had to pull my machine apart twice to install the new trackpad (otherwise it would have been 5).

The problem may be your batteries and not the touchpad
First off, I never installed the touchpad. By all indications it looks like a fine replacement part. I have two complaints about this product, one, it came with no installation instructions, and two, it came with no special tools which are needed for the installation. This is why I give it a 3 star review. I purchased this replacement Touchpad because my existing one was not clicking properly. Naturally I thought that it malfunctioned but I was wrong. Upon opening my case I discovered that the batteries were failing and expanding like little sausages. The expansion was putting pressure on the touchpad causing it to stop clicking. If you think your touchpad is failing I would recommend opening your case to inspect the batteries first.

Excellent Replacement For a Mid 2015 15" Macbook Pro
Perfect swap. I've been using the trackpad for several weeks now with no issues. Feels like the real thing even if this is an "OEM" part. Good quality glass surface. Force touch works without any issues.

All Okay!
The track pad did not work at first, but we put the old cable back on and it works perfectly. All the problems we had were with the computer itself because the battery was corroded. We put in a new battery, and everything worked just fine. The track pad came in on time, and the track pad works fine.

Worked as advertised!
I replaced the old defective track pad with this one and it worked like a charm. A1398 MacBook, Be advised it's located underneath the battery. Total repair time was near 2HRS to make sure battery was separated from the housing without damaging it. Overall a pleasant experience.

Works like New
You'll have to remove your battery to replace the touchpad, but after that it's as good as new. It fits and works just like the original.

Perfect
I'm at Director of Technology at a school and I replaced the damaged trackpad on my A1398 15" MacBook Pro. It works perfect, make sure you buy some good tape to resecure the battery on this model. Force click works, working perfectly for about 3 weeks so far, plug and play.
