PreCip Eco Jacket

A beautiful rain jacket, with the gold-standard name, Marmot. The color is a rich navy. Jacket fits very snug at both the bust and the hips, so I returned the Large, and re-ordered an Extra Large. I am 5 ft 5-in. tall, 150 lbs., bust 39D. Jacket has a full zipper and several velcro closings across the front, in lieu of buttons. Jacket is lightweight, definitely packable, and is waterproof. I travel a lot in Europe, and this jacket will serve me well. It will double as a windbreaker, too, but since jacket is not lined, I plan to bring along a polar fleece for those chilly days. Update: The XL was a good fit.

It’s very light and has good closure around the neck and head preventing water getting in under the jacket. Tested it in steamy rainforest and it exceeded my expectations!

I purchased this jacket in preparation for walking the Camino Portugués in September 2025. We left from Porto, Portugal and took 12 days to walk to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Recommend and would buy again! PROS: Incredibly lightweight, packs well, suitable for an extra layer for cooler evenings or mornings regardless of whether it’s raining. Excellent venting. Bought on sale and felt the value was beyond tremendous. Good style, liked the color — easy to blend in and not stand out too much while abroad. Soft when worn, did not stick to my skin as I worked up a slight sweat, and didn’t get stinky over our travels. CONS: None. Highly recommend! It rained only one day on our Camino (not hard — just a steady, lighter rain), and I was initially torn between taking this jacket or a poncho made to also cover my pack. From a weight perspective alone, I opted to take this jacket and left the poncho at home. Didn’t regret it for one moment. My pack came with a built-in cover, anyway, so all was well. Immediately after finishing our Camino, it began to rain while we were waiting in line at the Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago. Had the jacket at the ready so no worries — even cozied up with a beer under an outdoor umbrella to celebrate our completion, and was plenty cozy. I also wore it a few days and evenings (sans-rain) when we were out and about sight-seeing. Loved its versatility and lightweight protection from a steady breeze or damp air.

Bought for a trip to Costa Rica in November and it did not disappoint! I went on a night hike and it POURED! I did NOT get wet! Great item! It is super lightweight, very waterproof, packs down into it's own little package, has air vents in the arm pits, the color is perfect, it is very comfortable, and the seams appear to be very well done. I wore it four days in a row at various times, and no problems. Squished it up and mushed it into my backpack, and it came out fine. I always thought it looked like it would be wet o the inside, but it was not! And I stayed dry in a huge jungle downpour! Great purchase! Hood is also adjustable with a velcro strap on the back of it, I also had a headlamp I was wearing the one night, and everything fit well. Great product. I wish I had this in Honduras a couple of years ago!

Returned the first raincoat I purchased from here because the rain seeped through and soaked my under layer. Thinking it may have been a product manufactured issue, I returned and received another raincoat. Turns out that this raincoat is not waterproof at all and my under layer was yet again soaked through. Unfortunately the return by date has already passed. Looks like I’ll have to find some sort of waterproof spray to use on this raincoat to make it actually waterproof. Disappointing.

Absolutely love this jacket! I purchased it specifically for my Camino pilgrimage and it exceeded every expectation. It’s incredibly lightweight and packs down small, which made it ideal for my daily trek. I wore it through two full days of rain, and it kept me completely dry—no leaks, no dampness, just dependable protection. The fit is perfect (true to size), the color is beautiful, and the hood design is fantastic—secure without being bulky or restricting vision. This jacket was one of my best gear decisions. Highly recommend for any long-distance walking or travel in unpredictable weather.

I had a Marmot lightweight rain jacket years ago but lost it on a trip. I have missed it ever since. So, I splurged and got a new one, this one. It seems similar to my other Marmot, but I think this one is even better. I haven't worn it in rain yet but I do like how breathable it feels, all the ways to close it up (either with the zipper or velcro closures), sleeve velcro adjusters, attached hood and how I can fold it up easily to take while traveling. I got the navy blue - it's really pretty in person & a nice way to change up the usual black. For size, I did as others suggested and sized up. I usually get a small (size 4/6) in tops & coats, but went with the medium here. I think that is a good move. I can now use this coat as a rain shell over heavier tops/sweaters in the fall/spring. And, because it has so many good ways to adjust closures at the wrists, hood and body, sizing up is not a problem at all if you have a little extra material.
