Not long! They’re that good. The shelf life is 12 months if you store the bars in a cool, dry place. Why eat organic food? Organic food is better for you, and better for the environment Are their bars and ingredients certified organic? Yes. Some products on the market promote organics, but are not certified. They feel certification is a must or it’s an empty claim. Each ingredient they use is certified organic, and each bar is also certified. Are Taste of Nature bars gluten free? Yes, all their Taste of Nature bars are gluten free. Their Niagara Apple Country contains gluten free oats but due to regulations, they don’t claim them as gluten free. Where are Taste of Nature bars made? Everything is made in Markham, Ontario, Canada. What is the advantage of eating whole fruit and nut bars versus extruded snack bars? Whole fruit and nut bars take longer for your body to digest, so you feel full for a longer period of time. An added advantage is that you get to see all the ingredients you’re eating – what a neat concept! Are their bars baked? No. Their bars are not baked. They cold press them to protect all the precious nutrients. Do any bars not contain peanuts? Yes, these bars have no peanuts: California Almond Valley, Niagara Apple Country, Persian Pomegranate Garden, and Go Ontario granola bar. Their Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields has sprouted flax powder. How is this different than regular flax powder? They soak the whole grains in a measured amount of water and hold them for a specified period of time at controlled temperatures. The water enters the grain and causes it to germinate. This process causes the starch in the grain to convert to complex sugars, which the body assimilates slowly. This gives you more vitamins, particularly the vitamin B complex. What are the benefits of agave nectar in Taste of Nature bars? Agave nectar is composed of 80% fructose, 15% glucose and 5% sucrose. However, the GI level of agave standard is 32. Honey is at 58, cane table sugar at 64. Based on the amount used for the same sweetness, agave syrup has 11% fewer calories than cane sugar, and 40% fewer than honey. Agave nectar in Taste of Nature bars gives you a sweet tasting snack with a GI level below 55 which is the target for a low GI food. Agave is not refined – it’s the nectar of the agave plant. Agave is the same plant that tequila is made from, but the process is completely different. They can assure you that there is absolutely no alcohol in their fruit and nut bars. Their bars are low in calories (between 130 and 230 calories per bar) and contain only 6 g to 14 g of sugar. Taste of Nature bars are also low in sodium, and are a good source of energy and fibre, making them a delicious, nutritious on-the-go snack. Is agave nectar a recognized vegan food product and is it organic certified? Yes. Agave nectar is not made from any animal, fish or bee product and it is organic certified. Are all their bars low glycemic? Eleven of their twelve Taste of Nature bars were clinically tested by the Glycemic Index Laboratories, Inc. for their GI score. The results were phenomenal.
