Classic Starts®: Peter Pan

There weren't enough books for all my students to have one so I brought a few more. The book came as promised and in great condition. My students really enjoyed the book, they wanted more and was mad when it ended!

I love using this book with my 3rd graders as we study the fantasy genre. It is very well written and provides excellent opportunities for meaningful discussions about character traits and story elements. It is also a wonderful mentor text to use if you’re a Reader’s Workshop educator since you can easily use it to teach the good reader strategies.

I wanted to introduce my almost 5 yo grandson to chapter books. I wasn’t sure how he’d do without pictures, but he loved it! I told him he’d have to use his imagination as I read it. We both enjoyed it very much.

My 5 year old daughter loves Peter Pan and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. She is becoming more sophisticated in her taste in books, so I thought I would make the leap from children's picture storybooks to this chapter book. We read a couple of chapters each night and she loves it. We're on our second read through. The whole story is there, but in digestible and mostly understandable (to a 5 year old) chunks. This has been a great foray into chapter books for us, and I'm looking forward to buying more titles in the Classic Starts Series.

I never knew about the Classic Starts series. What a wonderful idea! We have only read Peter Pan so far, but it is a gem. Wonderfully retold, a few nice illustrations. I would guess that this is about the 3rd or 4th grade reading level. It doesn't capture the attention of my 4-year old but my 7-year old loves it. Can't wait to try some of the others.

My boys attend a Classical school and Peter Pan was assigned as summer reading. I purchased the original, unedited version from a local bookstore and was shocked. After discussion the 2nd grade teachers recommended this version as an alternative. A much less "vivid" tale, but still has enough edge to deliver the message. Recommended for younger readers!

My son was interested in reading Peter Pan, so I got this version after reading the reviews from teachers. My 8 year old read this in practically one sitting, only stopping to take bites from his dinner. He loved it.

My son needed this for his third grade reading class. I try the library and BN but couldn't find it, I was so happy to find on amazon. This book is prefect for a third grader and my son enjoy reading it, he is a big Peter Pan fan. The book arrive in two days so the shipping was good.

Nice book. My 9 years old son loves it! Pay attention that it is a retold one.

Bought this for my grandson for world book day as he was dressing up as a pirate (he was 3). My daughter read a chapter a night to him and he thoroughly enjoyed the book.
