Gojo 1204 Original Hand Cleaner Dispenser

The comments for this dispenser indicated Goop worked with it. This might have been easier with a 4.5 pound of GOJO but I already had the Goop. I've used Goop for a long time and like it better than GOJO, but that’s just my opinion.The plastic bottom of the Goop container has a place to cut out a small hole about the same size as the pump’s inner circle around the suction tube, so there’s no need to invert the container. I easily cut out the hole with a utility knife and placed the package onto the pump. I took off the top and pushed the Goop down with a piece of cardboard to get rid of any possible voids and to make sure the Goop was pressed against the suction tube while I pressed the pump. After about 10 presses it was primed. I replaced the top and Goop came out with every press as it’s done now for several weeks. I thought about putting a small hole in the top to equalize air pressure in the container but it’s worked fine without it.Solid construction, mounts easily and works great.

Have had mine for 2 months. It works well. Here's what worked for me to keep it primed.Of course, buy a new container of hand cleaner, AND also buy a small container of the same hand cleaner. The full big container does not contain enough of the product to ensure priming - it's not filled anywhere close to the top. Take some of the product from the smaller container you bought, pile a BUNCH (150 or more cc) around the intake and fill in the sunken areas on the top too. Fill it as much as is reasonable. Now come close to topping off the big container with some from the small container. When you put the large hand cleaner container on the pump:1) make sure it seals and goes all the way down. It will click when it's in place.2) you may have to take the big container off and remove some of the product on the dispenser.3) expect some of the hand cleaner to ooz out of the side as you mush it down with the container. That's to be expected.4) make sure you have the correct side of the container facing outward so it says GoJo upright. Otherwise you'll look like a dork ;-)All in all it works great. I'm very happy with it. It just takes some fiddling around to get it to work.Best of luck to you!

Read the reviews of several like-products before choosing this one. Not at all disappointed with my choice. This is made from very strong plastic and has a very well designed mount (screws not included). I bought genuine Go-Jo hand cleaner with this, although its description says it will accommodate other 3rd party cleaners. Took a few pumps and removal/reinstall of the canister to prime it - the cleaner gel has to be even with the top of the container and smoothed so you don't get a vapor lock. Once I got it in place and primed, the canister seemed very snug and secure. Other products had complaints about the canister being too loose and able to be easily knocked off - can't imagine that happening with this one. The blob amount that's dispensed is generous and one pump's worth of cleaner is probably sufficient for most cleanups. It doesn't drip or leak, unless you don't "shave" all cleaner from the edge of the dispenser, getting it all off of the spout. Overall it's a great addition to my garage and I'm totally satisfied with the quality, fit and function. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

These new pumps do not work well like the old blue ones did. Very difficult to prime and then they only half work. Please go back to the old design from years ago that worked flawlessly until you put pumice thru it. I've had 3 of this style over the past few years trying to make it work and they are all junk!

I use Goop but couldn't find a Goop dispenser so I bought this dispenser to try as an alternative. It works fine for my 4.5 lb Goop hand cleaner. It's appears well made, the price is fair, it shipped quickly and was well packaged. It took a bit of work to get the Goop to pick up a prime, but once it started it works great. If you do use the 4.5 lb tub of Goop with this dispenser I'd recommend removing the lid and flipping the tub upside down on the dispenser. It fits with a nice positive click. It may also need a small vent hole to help it flow.

In a not-too-smart move, I ordered another one of these after not getting the first one to prime or pump. The second one didn't work either. Having a mechanical engineering background, I fully understand how they work. The first one had a missing one-way valve and the second one had a defective one-way valve, both in the plungers. There is a very poor (or no) quality control. I called Gojo who offered to send me another one which I declined at the time in favor of being able to speak to a technically savvy person. This request was denied and I was repeatedly asked what cartridge I was using. I pleaded my case that NO cartridge type would work because of the lack of a working plunger valve. So, I will replace a call to Gojo and beg to have a tested, working unit sent to me. However, at this time I am not too optimistic. Gojo has a significant design/manufacturing/QC problem with this unit and I would not recommend taking a chance and wasting valuable time, presuming that money would be reimbursed.

Good way to store gojo by the sink, but is very finicky. The way the mechanism works sucks in air sometimes and you have to pump a bunch and hold a finger on the back to get a decent amount.
