Q: What's the difference between the black edition and the regular edition?

The game play is exactly the same. In the black edition, the pieces are upgraded, the box is nicer, and everything just looks a little better. I would totally buy it for $6 more than the base game though (since that's the current sale!). Not sure I could recommend buying it at $50, but $30? No brainer!

Q: Okay so I have the 2005 Risk game this seems not as fun since it isn't intergalatic conquest. Anyone else have the other one & like this one as well?

The 2005 edition is a twist on traditional Risk. This edition is a two player only game that involves conflict between space ships, but is otherwise completely different from the traditional game of Risk. There are two tracks in addition to the space battle, one which follows the rebels trying to destroy the shield generator and the other represents the light saber battle between Darth Vader and Luke. Players play cards to activate three things each turn (either one of the tracks or a kind of ship in the space battle). The imperials have to wipe out all the rebel forces before the rebels take down the generator and destroy the Death Star. It's a really fun game, but it shares none of the rules of standard Risk, including how battles are fought. It's also really short, playing in approx 30 minutes.

Q: Is this game too difficult to learn and play?

If you regularly play board games, then you shouldn’t have any problems picking up on the card driven aspect of this game. If you are new to board games then it’s a little more complex than many games, but it’s not that big of a jump. That said, the rule book is not the greatest in its wording, so there could be some confusion there.
