HemingWeigh Natural Air Purifying Himalayan Rock Salt Obelisk Lamp with Wood Base

The Lamp itself, is beautiful, and works perfectly, and arrived on time, in pristine condition. My only complaints are more annoyances, and suggestions to eliminate the minor annoyances, and concerns. First, the cord is short, but it was stated as such, fortunately, I had planed to put it right next to an outlet, so it was not a problem, but might be for some, so be sure you can put it near an outlet or be sure to buy an extension cord. It the ad said it was a 4 foot cord, but is seems closer to 3 feet, My other annoyance, in how they packaged/placed the bulb that came with it. It was shoved up inside the lamp, while that did protect it, there was no written indication it was there, I tore through the box several times thinking it was still with the packing materials, or that they had not sent it. When I finally realized it was up there, I could not reach it with my fingers. Since they jammed it all the way in, it was not clearly visible that it was a bulb packed or how the lamp was supposed to be, but even after I realized what it was, I could not easily removed, and feared breaking the lamp in the attempt to remove it. I had to go to a neighbor to borrow rather long needle nose pliers, to be able reach in far enough, and then remove it, but even then it did not dislodge easily, as it seemed to have been unnecessarily, jammed in tight as far as it would go. Since, I read other reviews of lamps that arrived broken, I was extremely concerned about not breaking or cracking it in what became and ordeal to remove it. To that end, I am not sure if I was lucky, or that the packaging was adequate. The packaging to protect the lamp, seemed very light, and insufficient, although it apparently did the job, but I also purchased another salt lamp from another manufacture, that came with much more packing material to insure the lamp not be damaged in transit. I would have also preferred more detailed easy to read directions, not only where to find the bulb, but all else. I will need to contact the manufacturer to find out the length of the hole where the lamp socket fits in, because the bulb that came with it, is a small christmas tree type light, but the replacement bulbs in the 15-20 watt variety, advertised on Amazon for salt lamps, look as though they be longer than the hole can accommodate, so it would have been helpful and save me some time to have that information; consequently, I would NOT buy those advertised replacement bulb packages, until one can confirm that they can fit in this lamp, remembering that the entire socket outlet slides up inside the lamp, taking up much of that space, which is why I am skeptical of there being enough room for the longer 15 watt salt lamp replacement bulbs. Having said all of that, the lamp itself is flawless, and beautiful, it worked perfectly once I figured it all out, and I am extremely happy with it.

Beautiful salt lamp! This is the second lamp I've ordered from this company and they did not disappoint. I've been researching different brands and models of salt lamps because I have seen so many negative reviews about them coming broken or malfunctioning due to faulty plugs. I specifically ordered this lamp and the hemingweigh 19-25lb (which is massive and beautiful as well) because they don't have a dimmer switch. The lighting from Salt lamps are for ambiance so I don't really see a point in having a dimmer when the light isn't supposed to be bright in the first place. I didn't want to worry about having a melted dimmer switch that could set my house on fire so I opted for one with an on/off switch instead. Another thing is that these lamps on Amazon are not expensive which is great because I have seen them in local boutiques for $100+ and they are of the same quality , size, shape etc.. these lamps aren't supposed to be "perfect" in shape since it's made from a raw substance. Overall the HemingWeigh brand of salt lamps has exceeded my expectations and made the experience of finding the right salt lamps for my needs simple and stress free. It can be difficult to buy such a fragile item online. I ordered a few other big/heavy items and they were all fulfilled my amazon and came in the same box. NOTHING WAS BROKEN.. I was amazed because I was doubting myself for ordering them all at the same time. This salt lamp in particular was packaged very efficiently in its individual box so thank you!

Beautiful lamp! No defects. I love the shape and have received lots of compliments. It produces a nice amber glow and a 15 watt bulb is sufficient to warm the salt at the bottom and middle, but not quite all the way to the top. I've purchased 25 watt bulbs for the lamp but they burn out quickly due to the narrow interior chamber, basically they get too hot. I would stick with the 15 watt. I have owned this lamp for about a year and everything is still working fine. I have seven salt lamps and I would say that this shape isn't the best for the air purification qualities since not all of the salt gets warm. But it is a beautiful and unique piece and I've enjoyed it all the same.

I would give this zero stars if it was possible. I ordered one of these and when it came it was broken, not only the salt pillar, but the plastic light socket as well. Amazon replaced it with a new one. The replacement is not usable as the base is misdrilled enough that you cant get the bulb into it. The corners of the salt pillar actually hang off the edges, it is mounted about 25 degrees off square, The picture looks great, and if you get one in one piece, that is mounted correctly it might have some potential, but I am betting that would be a rare case since my experience at failure is two for two.Update 12-7-2014After I posted my review I was contacted within 10 minutes by the company's customer service. They apologized for my experience and said that they sell thousands of these items and usually don't have issues. They shipped me a new one, expedited service without me even asking. I was just going to write it off. The new one showed up, it arrived unbroken and was squarely drilled and assembled. Once I put the bulb in and turned it on the light is quite nice. It reminds me of the light from a fire, sans the flickering. It is also quite beautiful to look at as well. I'm not sure how consistent the quality of the products are but the customer service is really deserving of high praise.So I'm changing the rating from one star to four stars.
