I have the world’s smallest backyard because I live in a city. With the COVID sitch, I wanted some cozy outdoor time in my little patch of yard. This fire pit is perfect. The legs easily fold out for standing above my concrete or fold beneath for easy storage. I can only fit maybe 3 logs in at a time, but I don’t need much more. It comes with a carrying case which is amazing. It’s water proof and protects from rust and having it fill with water. It also comes with a bottom grate (I don’t use it because it keeps the fire from producing great coals), a grill grate, hatch for sparks, and a stoker. If you’re concerned about fire being directly on the bottom, I added some sand from the dollar store for protection and it’s been fine. Make sure to keep it out of rain as it will rust (even the spark hatch thing). If you’re looking for a heavy duty fire pit, spend a little more money on something else. If you’re looking for an easy, small backyard fire pit set-up, I definitely recommend this. Be careful not to scooch the pit after you set it up. It must be lifted to move otherwise you might damage the legs (remember it’s portable so the legs aren’t completely stable, they have some give).

Not only is the unit well built and easy to set up, their customer service is sensational. My grill was damaged in shipping and they responded in less than 24 hrs, replacing the damaged part. This one replaces a different portable fire pit we purchased years ago and is of much better construction. The only change I would make would be that the ring atop the mesh screen be flexible so as to lay flat in the storage case. Not a big deal, but easier to handle when storing.

Bought the 29” model for backyard fires at the cottage we rent for our annual week-long lake vacation. Overall fits the need. Construction is pretty flimsy, but for the price it is to be expected. A little scratched up from packing and transport, but nothing horrible. The legs are light and the hinges leave it pretty wobbly. (The legs do click into place nicely and the lock pins seem secure.) Although it moves and shimmies when bumped or touched, I do not think it would snap or fall over from normal use. It does stow compactly in its’ cheap but serviceable carrying bag which is ideal for transport for us to and from home. The pics show wear and tear after two 3 hour fires on successive nights. The inner wood grate did warp slightly from the heat and weight, and you can see a few discoloration/ rust spots from the loss of the paint on the grate and in the bowl. The metal of the bottom of the bowl is pretty thin and does flex when pressed. However, it does seem sturdy enough for occasional vacation / camping use. Final pic is a five log fire with 18” logs. I have chosen not to put the fire starters directly onto the grate because I don’t want that much heat that close to the flimsy bottom. The tool is too short to use a fire poker, but works just fine for spark arrester removal. It did comes with the cooking grate of the same quality, but I haven’t used it, and probably won’t. IMO, the whole thing is just a little too wobbly for cooking. It is short. I put it on some patio bricks I found in the back of the cottage rental property to give it a little more height. In summary, pretty cheap construction, but light, portable and very usable for our purpose. Cheers!

This is a great fire pit (and a bbq pit) -- it's very easy to set up (my 10 year old child did it) and it's easy to use. It makes for wonderful roasted marshmallows and hot dogs on our patio, and it folds for easy storage and transportation. I anticipate we'll use it quite a lot on the camping trips, because even though there are fire pits where we camp, there is no good cooking surface, and this fire pit has a rack that can be used for cooking kebabs or setting other cast iron cookware on top.

It's made of light-weight aluminum (no assembly required)....specifically says in instructions "DO NOT burn charcoal briquets, lump charcoal, manufactured logs..." and a list of everything else not to burn.....doesn't say what you CAN burn safely....I assume oak is Ok, but expensive. Bottom grate is wimpy (though top grill is well made). Unable to use for a decent fire or for cooking...could melt. Returned same day. =( ========================================================================================= Edited (i.e. eating my words) 6/23/12 was going to return when I saw an almost exact copy in the local RV store, made out of the same lightweight aluminum, but without the "DO NOT burn charcoal, etc..." warning, so decided to try it out first. Have used it a few times since...didn't melt (yet). The main drawback is the shallow container....if it was slightly deeper so the grill could be a little higher off the coals for cooking would be better. Well (grudgingly) it works Ok, and stows Ok...will give it 3.5 (rounded up to 4) stars. ;) 2/18/2013 Just used it last night...holding up very well after at least 10 fires. Initially gave it 4 stars, but must say, it works well, and can recommend it without reservation now.

I have been burning wood fires out doors since the Kennedy administration. This unit is as advertised. The price is modest so that helps you understand what you will receive. The base is a full 29 inches, but the flare of the edge provides only 24 inches of usable fire space. The gauge of the sheet metal (it’s thickness) is heavier than tin foil, but, for the intended use it would be nice if it were doubled. The metal will be adversely impacted mostly by water mixing with the ashes. While the fire burns water will be steamed away. To make this last you need to keep it dry. I drilled six large holes in the bottom to let water drain out. I also painted it with with hi-temp black paint. I purchased this for a ten day camping trip. But I would like to have it last three seasons. It cannot be left out of doors. Use it, clean it, and give dry storage. . The bottom grate helps air get under the fire. This is a good thing. The top grill is for cooking upon. It could only be used if a hardwood fire is allowed to reach the red coals stage. The coals would need to be raked/smoothed out with a poker to a depth of 2 or 3 inches. Then place the cooking grate over the low coals and cook your food. You would not be cooking over a wood fire, but over the coals of a dying hardwood fire. Skill level to achieve this is high. I would not suggest this for cooking unless you have experience. This unit is fine for a wood fire off the ground for folks to sit around in lawn chairs. . This was designed from the get-go to meet a price point in the market. It does that well. I only wanted a camp fire off the ground to be “legal” and safe. If this was for home use, I would expect to spend hundreds of dollars to be able to leave it out in all weather. This is for occasional use outdoors, then cleaned and store in dry environment. Moisture is the mortal enemy.

Perfect for bringing to a picnic/park that allows grills/open flames so you can make smores with your friends. I don't use the lid because I am always either making smores or feeding twigs into the flame. I don't use the grilling grate because I don't want grease on the bottom of the bowl so I can't attest to how well it cooks. The legs fold out very easily so set-up is always a breeze. The legs fold back in just as easy so this is as portable as it gets. It's very light so you can throw the pit in the bag and throw it over your shoulders and walk a modest distance without being slowed down significantly. Go buy some firewood at your local home improvement store, get a box of tinder, and you'll have an instant smores party.

We took this fire pit to a recent camping trip in the mountains. Comparing to the size of typical fire logs you can purchase, this fire pit was relatively small but not too small to ruin the experience. Our conventional fire logs of size about 22" x 4" couldn't completely fit inside the bowl, which made us think about being creative and supporting the top two logs with another smaller one that sat under them. This is why I gave it a four out of five stars: after the first round of fire, the bottom grid holding the support log was bent downward, due to the heat and the weight of the logs. While not a big deal, it would be nice if the grids were of better quality and thicker material. The quality is on the better side of typical products out there however it's not the best. The folding legs are well-designed and stable with three spring pull-out pins that makes setting this thing up a breeze. The bottom of the pit and the edge are about 8" and 15" above the ground respectively so there is a maximum of 7" more or less inside the pit to play with. However the distance between the bottom grid -- sitting on the bottom of the bowl to hold the logs -- and the top grid -- sitting slightly inside the bowl as well for grilling -- is a bit on the smaller size (about 3") so there is almost no way you can grill something with some quality logs still burning. However after an hour or so of enjoying the fire, we managed to fit the grill on top of the remaining charred wood and boil some water for a nice round of hot tea. The top lid is hard to fit when there are logs in the pit. The bottom line is that considering the price, the quality, and the portability, this is a very good fire pit for 2 to 4 people. Make sure you cut your logs into smaller pieces to maximize your experience.

Used for 12 months now, many many fires, sat in ocean air all winter, its rusty but still good. Folds up great for RV use. Legs are a bit flimsy, replace screws with bolts for longer life. Bit pricey but it works well. Mesh cover burnt up too quick.

I was surprised at how good the quality of this item felt when it arrived. Used in the desert with charcoal to grill chicken and it worked great. Then added wood for a fire and again it didn’t disappoint. Definitely recommend - great value for the price!

Lo he usado 3 veces, la vdd me gusta que sea portatil, ha aguantado el fuego muy bien, aunque la base se chamusco creo que es de esperar ya que llega a temperaturas muy altas, la vdd si lo recomiendo.
