Great for everyday matcha latte
For the price it is at, I'd say it is really worth it. Good amount of powder inside. Froths up really well. Naturally has a dark color, so it's not like you have to add so much powder to get the color you want. It is much more on the bitter side, so compared to Ippodo Sayaka for example, you'd have to use more sweetner in my opinion in a latte. Not a fan of it as a tea but great for everyday latte. The packaging also has an extra sealed lid which is great for preventing oxidation.

Super good taste, mild caffeine
I love this! I had no idea about hojicha. I usually drink kukicha twig tea, both black and green. But I started getting headaches from it, so then tried matcha green tea. But the caffeine from matcha was giving me insomnia. I stumbled upon info about hojicha and tried this… it really hits the spot! Tastes better than green matcha in my opinion. And this brand is very high quality.

Yummy matcha - tastes like peas
Does anyone else taste the matcha and immediately think “this tastes like peas”??? I really enjoy this matcha, as it has a very different taste than other matchas I have tried! It whisks very well, the color is vibrant, and I think it’s fairly priced. The pea flavor did throw me off at first but like I said very good with some blueberry syrup and milk!

Love this matcha!
The flavor of this matcha is perfect for lattes! It’s on the bitter and grassy side, which I love. The color is pretty and the amount you get for the price is totally worth it. 10/10 from me

Chalky, but nice color
(this is for the green tin, the less expensive one) Color of the powder is nice, but when used in a latte, the matcha tastes chalky and feels grainy compared to matcha powders I've obtained from Japan. Likely would not buy again, but price point is decent for how much matcha they’ve packed in the tin.

Uji Wakamatsu
The media could not be loaded. This is my first matcha purchase, I was hesitant to buy on Amazon but this matcha had good reviews so I went with Uji Wakamatsu, and it’s very good, has a chalky texture of matcha, blends well with milk, and has a smooth taste. It’s not sweet so I would recommend this if you are new to matcha💗. Here’s a video that I made, this one was made with whole milk.

Beautifully crafted, rich in history – A matcha that truly stands out!
I’ve tried a wide range of matchas over the last several years, and I can honestly say the Hayashiya Fuji Matcha Powder stands out from others I’ve tried. From the moment I opened the tin, I could tell this was something special. The powder is incredibly vibrant—a deep, rich green that signals quality even before you’ve made your first cup.Hayashiya has deep roots in traditional tea cultivation and processing. It was founded in Kyoto in 1753, so this company has been preserving and perfecting the craft of Japanese tea for over 270 years. Their matcha is produced in Uji, Kyoto, a region that’s been synonymous with the highest quality matcha for centuries. Most notably, this matcha powder is stone milled. Unlike machine-milled powders, which can heat up during processing and compromise the delicate flavor compounds, stone milling is a slow and meticulous process that preserves the matcha’s vibrant color, fine texture, and nuanced taste. This matcha is creamy, earthy, full of umami, and completely smooth on the palate. Slight bitterness, which is to be expected when you drink it straight with water. It froths up beautifully when whisked with a chasen (traditional bamboo whisk). At $35 for 30g ( about 1 ounce), this is definitely on the premium side, but honestly, I’d probably buy it again. Once you’ve tasted higher quality matcha powders, like this, it’s hard to go back to the lower quality ones. Without meaning to sound pretentious at all, you really can taste the difference! So, if you’re looking for an authentic, traditional experience and a matcha that really stands out in both flavor and quality, give this a try!
