Bought it for protection.
A baseball bat is ideal for dealing with trouble but is the next weapon of choice after mace. a bat is for when things get serious. You can use it at either end in a swing or a poke. The trouble with a swing is that you're committed and can be attacked on the backside. It is considered a lethal weapon so you must be dealing with a situation involve an armed enemy or when you are outnumbered.Remember in fight, success is identifying the enemy with the most resolve. He will have a couple of wingmen. The rest will run away. When you attack, do it quickly, viscously, then withdraw. Avoid letting people get behind you. Don't run but walk fast and don't signal the direction you will go, if you can. The idea is to hit, get away, and hit again. If you get around a corner where they can't see you then strike hard and take out the point man.Don't be afraid to hurt anyone. Practice with the bat. Get used to the weight. Use it swinging and poking. Practice a few seconds of swinging and poking, then quickly withdraw.I have a spear at home and have studied spear tactics. Every so often I practice with it in my backyard.

Nice bat
I played ball as a kid, and in high school, and this is a classic Louisville Slugger, nice weight and balance, perfect length (I knew what I wanted), and resonably priced. I live in the foothills of The Rockies, so I actually bought it for my night time dog walks, because so many mountain lions are fleeing the wildfires. A wildcat respects a man more when he's carrying a Louisville Slugger, heh heh. I have not yet hit a ball with it, but use it every evening to give myself an air of Buford Pusser (a movie called Walking Tall when I was in 6th grade or so, he was the sherriff in a corrupt town, carried a bat). The bat does have one feature mine never had when I was a kid, a little round carve-out in the end -- I wasn't sure exactly what it was for until a friend spent the night and placed it on its end, just letting it stand there. Maybe that's what it's for, so the bat can rest on its end, not leaning against anything?

Quality bat at a great price
This bat has held up very well for the price. I got the 32 inch version (6ft, 160lb, 35.5inch reach) and I have taken 200+ hacks without an issue. That includes several 80mph inside pitches that have resulted in base hits off the handle. The bat is slightly end-weighted, and stays smooth and fast through my swing. Keep a few things in mind when purchasing... 1) it’s a wood bat, and it is probably going to break eventually no matter what you do 2) turning the bat, using quality baseballs (never batting cage balls or wet balls) and hitting on the edge grain will drastically increase the life of any wood bat. If you are looking for a good bat at a low price, buy this thing and have fun!Update:After another 200+ hits in live-pitch BP this bat is still holding up with out an issue. In the time I have had this bat I have broken two bats from other brands. This bat is so good, I bought a second bat in the 33 inch version.

It's a vampire bat now
This plus some barbed wire = bring on the zombie apocalypse! The whole end of the bat was hollowed out, which I found weird. If there's a baseball reason for that I couldn't tell you, I haven't played baseball in 30 years, but what I can say is that in my day, bats didn't have no fancy hollowed out ends. Same goes for the grip end of the bat, which didn't have any varnish on it. I just don't understand these new-fangled wooden bats, but it made a nice "Lucille".

AMAZING -- Period! No Matter the Price.
I've been playing ball for literally 35 years and I still play in an Independent league... just got this bat on a whim, wanting something new. TRUST ME... this is better than you can imagine. The handle is what I've been looking for for a long time. It thins out nicely while leading to the knob, where it doesn't have that "fat" bottom feel that too many wood bats have. Also, so far it's sturdy... I fouled off two high and in, right off the handle and it didn't crack. It's weighted beautifully... most of the weight is in the barrel, not the handle or midsection, like most wood bats. The ball jumps off nicely. I've currently batting .500 with it ;) We have all sorts of bats; hybrids, bamboo, maple, ash, etc... some are in the $150 range but this hits just as well, if not better. Dollar for dollar, you won't find a better wood bat, I promise you. It took me so many years to find something like this.

Great bat, as a tribute to one of my favorite shows, The Walking Dead
Being a fan of the Louisville slugger and having visited the factory in Louisville, Kentucky, I wanted this specific brand for my tribute to...The Walking Dead. A friend was going to convert this unassuming bat, into Lucille, from Season 6 through Season 8, for me.The bat is solid, and the weight is balanced very well. The finish is excellent and will withstand hard use. In the evolution, it was sanded down, but the tip was hollow. It had to be filled with wood filler. That hollow part is likely what gives its maneuverability. The bat was varnished, and finally, barbed wire was added to the bat for the final touch. It’s not exactly what the Louisville Slugger company had in mind, but my tribute to one of my favorite shows is perfect.

Great customer service more than compensates for product difficulty
Bad news: bat cracked after a few uses. Good news: LS customer service was amazing!! Here on Amazon I told the supplier the bat cracked. This was on a Saturday afternoon. On Monday morning a new bat was delivered to our house. No charge, and free shipping. I printed out a free return shipping label to send back the cracked bat. Even though we had a problem, they deserve 5 stars! With the new bat, I think maybe we will stick to using it for practice off the tee and soft toss, rather than trying to hit balls from a pitching machine. After all, a wood bat that is used in games will only make contact a few dozens times in the course of an entire season, whereas you can hit the ball that many times in one session in a batting cage. So it seems wood bats are not a good choice for that use.
