Made in China, paint on the cutting edge, but would still recommend.
I received these last week and they look nice. I put them to use today on a lathe and they cut great and leave a nice finish. Mind you, I only got to use them on aluminum. My only is that on the cutting tools themselves it says made in China while the Amazon description says made in the U.S.A. This shouldn't be a big deal but it bugs me that I was lied to. I probably still would have bought them even if it clearly stated in the description where they were made. I'm currently a student and wanted to buy something cheap to experiment with other than HSS cutting tools. Another thing that somewhat bugged me is how they are painted. On some of my tools it looks like they were dipped in the paint and I had to manually remove it from the cutting edge. I recommend them if you are machining as a hobby or a student, I'm sure some of the professionals could let you know if they worth using for heavier work.

G9776 Carbide-Tipped Tool Bit Sets, 3/8-Inch, 20-Piece from Grizzly
For the money I paid for this set of Carbide Tipped Tool Bit Sets, 3/8-Inch, 20-Piece from Grizzly #G9776, I feel I got a pretty good deal. I am not a professional machinist, so take my assessment of this tool set with a grain. I use them with aluminum, Delrin and plastics and won't be cutting any hardened steel. If you want a more professional assessment of this product, there will surely be a reviewer come along and state his opinion. Hopefully more informative than some of the previous reviews offered for this product on this Amazon product. I like it.

I LOVE these tools
I LOVE these tools...I use them in a South Bend 9" lathe. I was using the 1/4" ones in a Lantern tool holder, which was OK, but just upgraded to these, in a turret holder, and they are fantastic. Super rigid, they will hog their way through Stainless steel bar!. They are not usable "out of the box" - you need to clean them up, and I use a diamond file to make sure the rake and clearance is OK, and to give the tool the right radius for what I want to do...which takes some time, but after that, they are excellent, especially for the price.

just like we do with our HSS tools
Purchased these to use as a gunsmithing student. I sharpened the righthand roughers on a benchgrinder, just like we do with our HSS tools. I needed to use the bench grinder to get through the heavy coat of paint on the cutting surfaces. First C6 bit lasted a few days before getting a chip too large to grind out on the tip. All I've been turning is 1018 steel between 500 and 750 RPM at .010-.015 depth per turn.Figured I chipped it using at too high an RPM. Pulled out the 2nd rougher, touched the 1018 (literally just touched the steel as I was aligning the bit) and a chip flew off. You can guess how the 3rd one lasted 1 turn.Professional tool maker for 30 years looked at them for me, he had ground one and looked at the others that I ground before using them, and said they never used Chinese made bits, only US and Japanese. Not even going to try returning them since I ground them to get the paint off and to sharpen them. Buyer beware of these for steel.

Ok for the price
Bought these to mainly turn Delrin and UHMW. They seem to work ok, but haven't tried them on aluminum or steel yet. They do have paint on the side of the carbide surface, but not the top of cutting surface. They will work for me.

I’m guessing
It’s pretty good but they burn out or break pretty easily sometimes so be ready to replace them and maybe it was me. Because I was learning to use them with my metal lathe. I don’t know so I’m guessing

Work great!
Work great so far. Cut very easily. Made in China but seem to be well made. The shank could be like 2 inches longer as they are very short - toy like. Scared to think what 1/4 inch look like.
