Winco Taco Basket, Holds 8 Shells

I love making tacos. We did have to cut to taco holders off in order for it to fit into our deep fryer, but it works great. I am very happy with this purchase, I just wish I would have gotten this sooner. This is very easy to use, just put the tortilla in the holder and place the metal grate inside to hold it in place.

It looks very well-made, but unfortunately it wouldn’t fit in the deep fryer that I purchased to use it in, so I’m shipping it back.

The media could not be loaded. For those curious - I modified this to fit into an air fryer for the sake of pumping out lots of shells in a relative short amount of time on a taco tuesday. Full on baked shells never come out to my liking and pan frying either takes too long or uses too much oil. Store bought shells are mostly inferior in my opinion so hence the need for this contraption.In case your curiosity is further piqued - Coat both sides of the tortillas with your oil of choice, nuke for 30-45 secs, place them in the rack, and air fry at 325F for 8 mins or to your liking.

The product made making taco shells very easy. They were great for high volume. I had only one problem with the product and that they're both bent really badly coming out of the packages. I found this odd because they're packed in foam and seemed to be protected very well.

I use this to deep fry tacos JiB style in a deep fryer. It was slightly too long to fit my fryer, so I cut 2 of the taco slots off, bent the wire down to the new size, and it now works for my fryer. I think it would work great for making ones own taco shells out of corn tortillas too, though I have not tried it without the taco meat included thus far.

I am a chef and I work in a professional kitchen. I have used this taco basket well over a dozen times to try up over 60 tacos each time and this little guy has held up!!!I have used these in the past and know its easier to dip or blanch the tortillas to soften them up right before placing in the slots to allow a better formed "taco shell".We run this basket through our commercial dishwasher and allow it to dry every time and no rush or break downs as of now! It has a silicon cover to protect you from burning and it's slightly slanted, so went you place it on your deep fryers holding slots, the oil will drip out of one side of the tacos and not just pool in the middle. I have considered purchasing more to make the process faster!Oh, I always wrap it back up with come plastic wrap to prevent anything happening to it and loosing any of the inserts!!This is for a commercial deep fryer, so don't expect it to for your small home fryer!!!
