Did a lot of research on wound care when my husband came home with a non healing rectal wound. Amerigel had very good feedback. I bought the saline, and call it my "saline with the extra ingredient." I am doing absolutely everything I can to get my husband to heal and it seems to be working. Can't tell you which aspect of what I am doing/giving him is working, but I can tell you that Amerigel has the most wonderful wound care nurse who will take great care to help you. So if you have a wound that's not healing, give it a try. Update May 2013 Well, after having had an open rectal wound for 18 months, my husband finally is healed. It took five months after this last surgery, after the surgeon told us it might take up to 12 months. I used Amerigel saline and Amerigel creme, and I am just so happy that it's over. So, I do recommend it. I do believe it helped.

My elderly father suffers from pressure sores. My mother requested that I get her a wound wash that dispenses from a pressurized can because the wound wash saline that comes in a small jar was difficult for her to handle while trying to get my father to stay standing up as she cleaned his back side. She believed that a spray would make it easier to clean his brittle skin while getting him to stay standing. The spray technology also guarded against the saline spilling or getting contaminated while the lid was off. After using it for a few weeks, I asked her how she liked it and she said it was "perfect". The spray can will spray while being held upside down. The liquid inside has the consistency of water and is not a gel like the name suggests. The clear top is flimsy and broke in half when being used for the first time. It could not be fixed but i found it unnecessary to the operation of the spray can.
