Chock full of wonderful, varied art!
From start to finish almost every single page is filled with fantastic art. Split into five sections covering - Disgaea 1/2/3/4 and 'The world of Disgaea' with artwork from the Prinny games and TV animated series its just under 200pgs in length. The artwork is mostly Takehito Harada, the artist for all the Disgaea games, the book containts a mixture of promotional art, book covers, soundtrack art, in-game artwork, character art and the game covers. For us, outside Japan a lot of this artwork will be new and unfamiliar except for the in-game art. The book is well bound with high quality paper and a glossy front cover. Most of the art work is full page prints, a lot of them are characters in the zany and crazy poses we know and love them for - focused a lot more on the female characters perhaps (this is not a bad thing!) There are unfortunately no interviews or real text inside the book to speak of apart from an introduction and index at the back. Get this book to enjoy the creativity that has gone into the Disgaea series, a must for collectors or fans of the game series or the anime style in general.

Very nice
Very clear printing, fun and awesome artwork.Only complaint (if any) is that the book is massive! Not much room to stand it up vertically on my desk

Fantastic artbook for Disgaea fans
The media could not be loaded. This art book is a visual treat to Disgaea fans. It's a 192-page paperback filled with illustrations from all four Disgaea games, namely Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice and Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten. There are illustrations from all sorts of merchandise like game covers, books, soundtrack, other promotional materials and in-game illustrations as well. It's not a concept art book. The art is beautiful, printed in mixture of sizes from quarter page to full page. It's shonen manga style with very pastel colours throughout. The bulk of art comes from Takehito Harada. However, there are many illustrations drawn by other artists who were not credited. The index page have info on where the art came from. The artist commentary appear for only three illustrations. This book is translated by Udon from the original Japanese edition (isbn 4048706373) that was published in 2012. That book had mixed reviews, citing the lack of artist credits and duplication of work from other books such as Takehito Harada Art works (isbn 475806265X) and Disgaea 3 Official Design Works (isbn 4797351519). If you don't have those books, then it's not a concern. If you like the Disgaea series and the style of art, this is a great buy.(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Excelente libro de arte/ilustraciones que todo fan debe tener, me hubiera gustado fuera de pasta de dura por lo grande que es, contiene ilustraciones de los primeros 4 juegos

Bella

A must-have for fans of Disgaea's art style
If you've played any Disgaea game before, you know the graphics are dated... but it's hard to mind when everything, from the characters to the environments, just ooze style. If you agree with me in that, then you need to get this book, dood.I like how the book is formatted. It goes in reverse chronological order, slowly leading you into the nostalgic days of the first game. After these chapters, there is a section for media related to the games, like the soundtracks and Japanese novels. In order to make sure that each picture is as big as can be, the reference of where the art came from (CD cover? postcard? ending scene?) is in an index at the back of the book. This lets you simply admire the art. Even though I love the Disgaea series, there was a surprising amount of artwork I had never seen before. In a few cases, that's simply because the picture is new, but in other cases, it's because the picture is rare.Remember, the purpose of this book is to give you an easy means of viewing the art. Save for a few words from Takehito Harada (in English), there is hardly any reading in here. That's not a flaw, but something to keep in mind... zam.And what if you haven't played all the Disgaea games? Well, I haven't played the fourth one, to be honest, but I still loved the art taken from it. If you like Takehito Harada's style and have played at least one or two of the games, I'm sure you'll enjoy this book. The book itself has a firm cover, though it's not hardcover. The pages are also firm, so this really is a nice collector's item that should hold up well.Overall, if you like Disgaea's art, you'll like this book: simple as that. Boom!
