Terrific fire pit. Easy to tote and cleanup.
We used this on a seven day backpacking trip, where a fire pan was required. It’s small enough to make it easy to carry, and durable enough to get knocked around without issue. When you build a fire in it, the air passages in the bottom of the pan, allow great airflow, making it easy to burn the fire all the way down to Ash. Would recommend.

Great Portable FIre Pit
After having several fire pits over the years, all of the large, I purchased this UCO fire pit and I must say that I absolutely love it! It provides just as much comfort as a large fire at a fraction of the wood used. Perfect for grilling over after you have a nice bed of coals. Buy this, you will not be disappointed!

Not for backpacking, but great for car camping.
Sometimes you just want to do a little "extra" at your campsite. This little firebowl is the berries when it comes to compact, stowable, and durable. You can burn wood or charcoal in there and wipe it clean. When camping with a small group (4-5), I can put a few pieces of charcoal in there, get them hot, and either put the UCO Grilliput over it or use that charcoal for some "modified" dutch oven cooking using some of my smaller camp cookware. This firebowl also works great if you want to grill on the beach. Just put about a dozen pieces of charcoal, lite em up, then mount the Grilliput over it and grill away. The firebowl keeps all your heat centralized thus minimizing your use of charcoal. This is not something I would take on the trail, because it just takes up too much room in my pack. This would be an even better product, if UCO came up with a bag that held the firebowl and grilliput together, and maybe a pouch to put some charcoal. Then WHAM instant BBQ on the beach or at your favorite picnic site.

4 years later. Still perfection.
Helps protect the fire while you get it started, makes a bowl to get all your tinder into, also helps keep the tinder from blowing away while you fluff it up. I intentionally beat the heck out of this thing to see how it would do. I set fires in it that were WAY too big and burned too hot, I cooked in it, I would leave a long burning fire to burn out in the snow, left it in one place for 2 years where the sun would hit it, and the rain and snow would collect in the middle. After all that, I set more fires in it, quenched it with cold water, then tossed it under a raised shed so it would be in contact with the ground and then left it there for 2 more years. Pulled it out today, rinsed it off and scrubbed it with a dark red scrub pad, and here it is. It has a patina to it, still solid, my model used the little peg legs, if those ever fall out I would just use a nut and bolt as a replacement. The only thing I ever had to do was use some pliers to bend the slot on the petals to get it to have a tighter fit. Did that once when I first got it.

This is the Second one I have bought in 4 years.
I am an avid Backpacker and Volunteer Trail Maintainer and spend one Weekend a month Backpacking. I have a favorite 20 mile loop I hike on those weekends.. I am always on call to remove downed Trees or Tread repair within 40 miles of my home.... I first bought this item from a well known company out of Ohio 4 years ago and love it. The Brochure shows using Charcoal in the unit but I have also used Cut wood and Wood Stove Pellets. Charcoal does sound heavy but on average for a couple of hot meals with a Metal Grid over the top I use an average of 4 Self Lighting Charcoals per meal. After which I usually cut Firewood into Circular rounds instead of long pieces about 3 - 4 inches thick and add them to the Charcoal.. I do build a Windblock behind the Bowl and the resulting heat Reflection has served me well plus I do not have to have it six feet away from my Tent or Shelter Half. I normally use an 8x10 Tarp, keeping it low as in three feet high and the Bowl about 3 feet away with the Reflector. I use a solo man tent most of the in buggy season and again it works pretty well. So far no melted holes in my tent.. I bought a New one for a Present for my hiking Buddy for his Birthday. Mine is in good shape after maybe 75 uses. I clean it after every trip and carry it in a waterproof Bag I found at Walmart while on the trail.

Great little fire bowl!
We purchased this to use in our wedding, which was an Indian ceremony requiring a small fire. we were a little worried the box came and we saw how small it was. But the bowl actually telescopes open to a larger size, which is quite neat to see. It is still relatively small but a great size for a tabletop fire. This would be great to pack for camping or picnics.

Buy A Vegetable Steamer For Half Price
The unit is exactly the same dimensions as the “large folding vegetable steamer “ you can buy on Amazon. I purchased this for 22 dollars and the veggie steamer for about 12.Side by side burn test showed they both burn evenly when opened up. The difference is when the wood gets down to coals. Folding each unit proved the veggie steamer burned much better. The uco unit does not have enough vents while the veggie steamer has 100’s of holes in it. When you close the steamer up, a beautiful blue flame burned for well over an hour with little or no smoke out of the top hole. The uco smolders and can’t breathe. Also the steamer with its multiple holes offers a beautiful ambient light along with some great radiant heat. Save your money. This is literally the exact same construction as the steamer but costs 10 dollars more and is much less efficient.

love it
I was trying to make a table top fire pit. At first I could not find anything to hold fire without melting it. Then I saw this grill pit fire bowl. It works perfect. No melting. And I am also able to adjust size. I love it.
