Pilot Mechanical Pencil Dr. Grip CL Play Boader, 0.5mm, Floral Pink (HDGCL-50R-PFP)

It’s a comfortable pencil and the size is perfect I really love 0.5 pencils. I had bought my first one back in 2023 but I sadly had lost it while at school :,( so I had to buy a new one.

Nice dr. Grip pencil it very thick but I don’t mind perfect for drawing and writing i got this mechanical pencil for my daughter (yes again) is does smudge tho but not bad it so soft and nice 😊 the pencil perfect would recommend it and nice color

A great mechanical pencil for those who enjoy shakey pencils and is looking for one that is highly customizable. Purchased as a gift, Pilot shake lead advance pencils are one of the top ones manufactured. This pencil is light weight and has a center of mass on the lower end (closer to the tip). Made in Japan, which speaks for itself. Rundown: Cap: metal cap (always a great choice of material) that fits snuggly Eraser: uses Pilot HERF-10 (Diameter 4.9 mm, Length 12.5 mm) that acts as a plug for the lead Clip: no clip, but has a hole for cell phone strap/charms which is a nice customizable personalization feature Body: clear glossy quality plastic that is prone to scratches on the outside with matte pink interior, so be pencil case mindful and don't let it get scratched up. As another one of the customizable features of this pencil is the clear view barrel that allows pictures or backgrounds to be inserted. Great for students, but don't be too obvious about it if you know what I mean haha. Pairing it up with backgrounds (like cherry blossoms for this particular one) Grip: smooth rubbery grip that is not too soft and not too firm. Another customizable part of this pencil is the 3 rubber cylinders underneath the clear outside grip that can be changed between other pencils of the same series. Tip: made of stainless steel and is 3mm fixed cone shaped that is more pocket friendly, as opposed to straight cylinder Lead advance: shake- from my experience while personalizing the pencil is that 2-3 shakes gives me my preferred lead length. click- press down on the cap and the lead also advances. I would say 2 shakes=1 click. To withdraw the lead, one must press cap down and hold, then push exposed lead inside and finally release the cap. Color: very pink. I would say it is a rich pink, not too dark and not too light. Overall, I would recommend this pencil to a pencil enthusiasts that is looking for a highly customizable, personal pencil. Otherwise, it makes a great gift!

It writes like a dream - very smooth, almost like a pen. What I love most is that it doesn’t have a clip which hurts and is irritating on my hand and skin. It does have a nub to keep it from rolling. The soft gel at the base is a plus - very comfortable to hold.

I absolutely love this mechanical pencil for several reasons, but there’s one aspect that leaves room for improvement: the eraser. First off, the thickness of the barrel is just perfect for my grip; it feels comfortable and secure in my hand during long writing sessions. The added rubber grip enhances the experience even further, providing a soft, non-slip surface that makes writing feel effortless. One feature that stands out to me is the innovative shaker mechanism for advancing the lead. It's both fun and practical—just a gentle shake of the pencil and the lead moves forward, allowing for quick adjustments while I'm jotting down notes. For those moments when shaking isn’t convenient, there’s also an option to simply press down on the top of the eraser to advance the lead, giving me flexibility based on my needs at the moment. In terms of quality, this mechanical pencil exceeds expectations. It is well-made and durable, which is crucial since I take extensive notes daily. The lead itself is robust and rarely breaks, further adding to its reliability. At its price point, this pencil offers excellent value, making it an essential tool in my stationery collection. However, I do have a couple of concerns regarding the eraser. It is concealed beneath a cap that must be removed before use, and once I do take it off, it tends to roll off the table and onto the floor. This little mishap often leads to a frustrating search that interrupts my flow when I'm in the middle of writing. Moreover, the eraser itself is quite small and doesn't have much longevity. When I find myself doing a lot of erasing, the diminutive size becomes a drawback, requiring me to keep a spare eraser handy. Overall, while the pencil performs beautifully in most respects, the impractical nature of the eraser could be improved for a more seamless writing and erasing experience.

Durability is good. Weight is light. Comfort is good because of grip. No refills for pen. Color variety decent.

I only found it once on amazon, at a costey price (it's hard to find some Japanese stationery items...) but I had to substitute my previous one and didn't even think twice. So, the flaws were definitely the price - overprice, to be honest - and something that I know because of what happened to my former one: I believe the gel grip will get yellowish with time and use. However, maybe with this one it will be different. I doubt it, but it's possible. Furthermore, none of these flaws smears the fact that it's the best mechanical pencil ever for me :) The advantages: - the gel grip is so smooth I can write for hours, in class, for instance, and no sign of calluses will appear (it's not by chance its name is Doctor Grip); - easy to substitute the leads; - shaker mechanism, that I personally don't use a lot but it allows us to not overuse the cap-and-eraser mechanism; - the click sound produced when we click to extend the lead is almost unnoticeable - so we bother no one if we're studying in public spaces; - the little eraser that comes integrated (like most of mech pencils) is actually a good one - little, but with more quality than the majority of these micro-erasers) and we can use recharges; - color combination of shades of blue is gorgeous (I know we can change the order of the "rings" but that's not for me, although I believe that for the youngsters this may be a must); - plastic upper body doesn't get easily scratched; - it's so simple it's perfect for someone who already knows the leads that works best for them and just wants a pleasant writing experience: both they are unbeatable!; - it's lightweight and cushioned: if you have tendinitis, a common condition of students who are used to write fast and a lot, it's a safe pencil, because you don't need to put pression on it to write (again, Doctor Grip!)... What more can I say? I can only hope Amazon will sell it soon at a more reasonable price, so more people feel tempted to try this wonder of Pilot and discover how this mech pencil transforms our writing experience.
