the first time ever, about a few weeks ago, I got this bottle of cod liver oil capsules that smelled rancid. Never has this happened from Carlsons brand. I had waited to open my bottle, until my last bottle was finished. I did not know they would refund my purchase, but they did, and I reordered a new bottle. It smelled fresh just like usual. I am writing this review because some companies will not refund a purchase if you wait too long, but I waited until I was finished with the first bottle. It might have been on my shelf about 2-3 weeks unopened too. glad to say that this company refunded this purchase even though I was a bit late to request it. This is the best product I have ever had. Be careful of other omega 3's capsules because they may contain shellfish or have particles of shellfish in them. This is the safest. I have to have the safest because I am allergic to shellfish. Even anchovies and sardines can be contaminated with shellfish. This isn't. This is the pure thing and is an excellent product

My wife and I love this product. It is reasonably priced and it has what we wanted... simple and straight forward ingredients. There is no added crap here. The pills are a bit large, but we chew them and take the oil out and then spit the case in the trash. The flavor is lemony, and not bad at all. The recommended dose is 5 pills, but my wife and I take 4 each. We might switch to the actual solution next time since we bite them anyways. The flavor is not overwhelming like others I have tried. Great buy!

I swear this stuff is amazing. I suffered with back pain all throughout my pregnancy and I thought after the birth the pain would have gone. Nope a year later and I still have lower back pain or I did. The only thing that changed in my routine was these capsules, and I swear they have gotten rid of my back paid and I am pain free. Go figure. SO for nearly 2 years constant lower back pain and now nothing. This are great.Unlike other cod liver oil tablets they taste nice and you don't get that repeated after taste with these either. These are my new wonder tablet that I will continue to use and buy.I'm taking 3 a day with meals and that's working for me.

After reading the prior reviews regarding this product and doing a little research on the benefits of Cod Liver Oil, I purchased a bottle of this stuff. Let me tell you...... after only a couple of days use, I noticed a dramatic improvement in the overall appearance of my skin. I'm 53, and it made my skin more moisturized, it diminished the appearance of "liver spots" on the back of my hands, and my skin feels silky smooth with an overall "sheen" to it that wasn't there before. I also had a doctors appointment today, and my blood pressure was 120 over 80 on the nose!! I have only been taking this stuff for about 2 weeks now, but I can guarantee you that I will be taking this stuff for the rest of my life!! No fishy ANYTHING with this product, empty stomach or full. Do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of this NOW!! FANTASTIC PRODUCT!! #hooked4life!

There is no fishy taste easy to swallow gel capsule

I ordered and even subscribed to Carlson's cod liver oil based on its reputation. It is said to be, and I don't disagree, the best omega-3 source on the market. However, this particular product, 150 1000mg capsules, is not something I am ordering again. First of all, this listing didn't make clear that the 1000mg describes the size of the pill, not the omega-3 content. That is only 230mg. Secondly, and more troublingly, the contents of the other 770 grams of fat are not disclosed. They may be saturated, which I wouldn't mind but others might, or they could be omega-6, which I certainly would mind. I suspect they are saturated and monounsaturated, which is to say unproblematic for me, but it'd still be nice to have more clarity.The pricing is deceptive: on the face of it, this seems to be the cheapest Carlson's package one can get, but a serving is 5 pills, not 1, and those five pills are equivalent to 1 teaspoon of actual product from the liquid form. The overall price difference is 33.00 for 100 doses for the liquid (.33 dollars) vs. 13 for 30 of the pills (.43 dollars) vs. 13 for 150 (which is the perceived price, based off of the data given, 8 cents per dose). As a college student who lives primarily off of rice and milk, the perceived difference is what made me go for this product.What I'm saying is that this is a good product, be aware that it is more expensive than it appears.

I believe in the benefits of the product and have no reason to doubt the maker's intent or reliability. I just got my order today which is acceptable timing and the price is great, compared to some of the other natural products being marketed elsewhere.However, while the bottle says that you can chew these....don't. Just don't. It isn't a like a gel vitamin. One bite and the gel cap breaks open, flooding your mouth with what tastes like lemon pledge and the casing is not chewable - it feels like you are chewing on plastic. That was not unbearable but certainly not desirable.This morning was my first dose, but no fishy odor so far. I'll try to come back and post my impressions after a few days of taking it - NOT chewing it.Edited later: Not having any issues at all with taking the gel caps - no aftertaste at all, no indigestion, so I changed my review to a 4 star. If my cholesterol results improve, I'll change it to a five - I am hopeful! :)
