I use this mostly at work, I'm a welder and I like listening to podcasts and audiobooks as well as music. Clarity at a volume I can hear is absolutely vital, if theres distortion at high volume or the volume doesn't go high enough, then it's not gonna work for me.This is the best bluetooth speaker I've owned or even seen. It's loud, has great quality, and has held up to a dusty work environment.I also take it camping so it's gotten a bit wet at times and I've used it to charge my phone (so w an otterbox defender) with both the wireless and a USB cord. The battery is huge I've never run it out. It is big so it's not as portable as a jam or something but as long as you're not taking it for a hike or something, works out very well.

The Qi Charger is useless while using the speaker bc the vibration from the music pushes the phone off the top. The speaker quit producing sound after 1 week of use. I called altec to troubleshoot, they informed me that the Bluetooth receiver inside the speaker had jammed up. The only way to factory reset it is to let the 30 hour battery die... which could take even longer than 30 hours with no sound coming out. Having to wait 2 days for the speaker to die, just to use it again is not an acceptable solution for a $300 speaker. On the pro side, the speaker is loud for its size but will crackle at the highest volume. Just not worth the money.

Bought this for the versatility and survivability. Absolutely love it! Customer service from Altec is lacking as I’ve not received any response to my questions. But my only discovery and question was about the charge time. It advertises 2-3 hours for full charge, and I find that time to be quite different, as it takes several hours for the charging indicator to turn off completely. But rocking out at full volume this unit on a single charge has lasted ~12hrs continuously. At less than full volume I have exceeded the 30hrs advertised when not used constantly. Overall love the product, and will buy another.

This little speaker works great , it is easy to use and I could not be happier with it. A friend told me about it and it does just what it says it will, it is rouged strong and sounds great, the user friendly is also great I would recommend it to all who love music, it hooked to Pandora so simple it is great, thinking of buying another one they are so cool.

After a full charge it played for 2 hours then died completely dead. No response, nada, zilgich. So i figured Amazon got a bad batch. It happens, such as life, things happen. I bought an upgraded with leds from another company. Same thing happened. I do not blame Amazon I blame Altec Langsing for poor quality manufacturing quality control. I have 2 lifejacket 2 that i am very happy with. Yet these to new purchases of a more expensive speakers were utter disasters. Lifejacket gets the deep six...

Edit:This is a decent speaker. The sound is pretty good and it gets super loud too! The mids are lacking but you can’t tell a whole lot unless you right next to the speaker. The Qi charging aspect is pretty rocking. It is heavy so travel is not super easy but the thing does in fact float. After going on vacation at the beach, the promise of the Bluetooth range being a quite a good distance was a severe disappointment when the sound started to cut out at about 5 feet away.With the price being as it is, I think I will call this a disappointment. I was really hoping for a decent sound, not the crackles I get from the mids when the volume goes up. I hoped the Bluetooth range was actually worth my while. I also would have preferred a multi user function some other models mentioned having where both my husband and myself could be synced in with Bluetooth to play music without the whole disconnect Bluetooth jumble we’ve been going through for years now with our previous Bluetooth speaker.I wouldn’t waste my money. Like I said, this is just a disappointment.
