Two options - use as a long barrier to stop roots growing past it, or make a circle / oval to enclose a plant that you want to keep inside such as bamboo. In the circle / oval enclosure this product requires at least a 1/2 metre (50 cm) overlap (or less if you use a really strong glue) as the roots will try very hard to get past. If you don't know what you are doing YouTube has videos on how to install, but the tips are don't skimp on the depth you need to dig down to (0.65 m), place the barrier on an angle to encourage underground root runners to go upwards rather than try to go through the barrier, plant the overlap well to keep the roots in.
