Good Price for 24 Set of Vibrant Colored Gouache
Purchasing them might be confusing for many because the 24 pack is called a "12 Count Pack of 1" and then there is an option for an actual "12 pack" of 12 colors...These are a nicer student grade gouache and a decent performing gouache at a budget price. The colors are rich and vibrant. They have a feel of lower priced watercolor. Not the super gross chalky stuff, but the lesser transparent watercolor. Something you would buy around $12 to $18 for a set of 24 dried cakes.I didn't want to buy the jelly cups. I didn't want to deal with the lids after they are opened. I am good with tubes that have lids that secure air tight. I like the option of using paint from the tube if I want...moist paint in a tube with a lid that secures tight.I tried the Royal Langnickel watercolor tubes once, when first starting out. Some of their watercolors cracked bad & crumbled when dried in a palette. I had to mix a small drop of honey into a few of their watercolors when I've dried them in a palette. That solved that issue. Their gouache paint, however, dries nice in pans. No crumbling or cracking. No mess when they dried in my palette. This Royal Langnickel gouche set of 24 colors gives you two variations of white. One is slightly less bright white. The other is bright white (Titanium). It's good to have two whites when using gouache and this set gives you two whites. The slightly less bright white will be good for mixing. Titanium white, alone, is good for the typical highlights. This is a nice set for play, practice and making nice art. You might want to do your own lightfast test so you know what you are dealing with. You can make nice paintings with these and frame them if you want for yourself, friend, or relative. Just be aware of how sunlight will hit it, causing fading. These mix pretty well. Watering them down lets them mix even more. This gouache Sap Green doesn't really look like a sap green but it can be mixed with Burnt Sienna and a dab of Lemon Yellow to get a Sap Green I'd consider Sap Green."Orange" and "Red Orange" are close to identical at first glance. Same with Sap Green and "Mist Green".The Cerulean Blue in this set is a slightly different shade of the watercolor Cerulean Blue I'm use to.This gouache "Cerulean Blue", to me, looks more like a "Turquoise Blue", which is still a very beautiful lighter sky-ish type of blue. Just a slight shade variation. This gouache "Ultramarine" reminds me more of a "French Ultramarine", which I happen to like. Mixing it with this set's "Burnt Sienna" makes a nice variation of a less harsh black. The black in this set is "Lamp Black", a nice dark, rich black. Sometimes that might be too black for things you are painting so you might want to water it down a bit or learn about mixing your own blacks when you are ready for that if you are exploring or new to this watercolor and gouache world. This set was $16 for twenty-four colors. Anyone using it will get their money's worth. It's a good deal for people exploring this medium or on a budget.Watercolor and gouache are so easy to set up for travel or painting anywhere, quick and easy to start painting on a park bench, a train, on a plane, in a car, on a stoop, sitting on the grass, on a road trip, in a limited space location, camping, in a library, at the beach, at a coffee house, etc.Just whip it out to set up anywhere and paint. It's just as fast and easy to clean up and put away. It's the common medium for urban sketching.

Good Gouache
I got this set and opened a few tubes. All that came out was binder! Opened a large paper clip and stirred each tube. Hoping that worked and I don’t have to repeat each time. Beautiful colors in this set! When it’s stirred, it’s creamy and moves beautifully on paper!🙂

Tubes are large and paint spreads nicely
I am a newbie to gouache and painting in general...the big brands are so expensive...I bought a few different affordable gouache sets just to see how different the painting experience would be. For the price, this paint seems to spread well and have decent coverage/opaqueness...Another brand with the initials "M.T." seem to require a lot more water in order to get the colors to spread. I used that set in a watercolor class and had to use half the tube just to get coverage across my paper...With the Royal & Langnickel paint, it doesn't require near as much and is just as vibrant.

I mean look, you get what you pay for
I'm not a gouache expert, I'll start with that, but I've been painting a long time in other mediums, so here's a nuanced take. One good thing about cheap art supplies is you don't feel bad for using them up. Also with gouache people all seem to find their preferred ways of using it. Some people don't like rewetting it, preferring to use it wet from the tube. Other people let gouache dry out a bit before using it. Some of us are fine either way. A cheap product means you can fool around with it and not worry about wasting it.I've done a few paintings with this set, and I can tell that I'll want to upgrade when this set is done. But it definitely works, the colors mix okay, they are vibrant, you shouldn't hang ANY painting in ANY medium in sunlight but let's be real, probably especially this stuff. It rewets very well, which is cool.I'd recommend it for testing the medium, seeing how you like it, all that. It's not so horrible as to make you hate all gouache I don't think, but as with all things your mileage may vary. I'm going to use this up, it won't go to waste, and then I won't buy it again, but it's good for beginners. Kids might enjoy it too, it's not bad.

A welcome upgrade to what I was using
My only experience with gouache was with the Reeves brand. I spent the last year and a half:Painting a picture -> getting upset because it looked chalky, dull, and patchy where layers lifted -> deciding gouache wasn't for me/putting it away for months -> finding someone's amazing gouache painting and getting inspired -> repeat the cycle.*The paint isn't streaky when applied thick. It also blooms well when treated like watercolors.*The set comes with both Titanium White and Zinc White which is a nice touch since most gouache sets I've seen usually only comes with one type of white.*I haven't had an issue with the paint looking chalky when dried.*Rewetting dry paints on my palette is a breeze.*The paint is opaque enough that I was able to cover up my mistakes.*I haven't had a problem accidentally lifting paint while blending or reactivating the layer underneath (a major reoccurring problem with Reeves)*As far as I can tell, the colors look vibrant to me but I'm colorblind so take my opinions on vibrancy with a grain of salt, I can't speak 100% for the Greens, Yellows, or Browns which is almost half the colors.*This last point is more of a personal problem but Green is my worst nightmare color-wise so I do like that it comes with so many different shades of Green. My Reeves set had 2 (maybe 3??) tubes, so I was constantly asking for help mixing the shade of Green I wanted; which I'm sure was annoying. At least with 5 tubes I wont need to ask as often ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good quality, budget friendly
This is the perfect kit for a gouache beginner. I tried a set of paint pots but they dried and a lot of effort to reconstitute. I much prefer these tubes as they can obviously be recapped to prevent drying. Some of the colours could do with a bit more opacity but a little bit of white paint fixes that in most cases, and most colours don’t need it. I’d buy again and recommend.

Royal & Langnickel 12ml Gouache Painting Colour (Pack of 24).
I already purchased the larger set of 21ml tubes of this brand of gouache some time ago and decided to get this one as a travelling set.For their price, these are very good quality and are proper gouache paints with a good creamy consistency, strong pigment content and good coverage. The only negative points are that there is no information on lightfastness or permanence and the tubes are not available singly, so there is no option to replace a colour when it runs out.Like the larger set, there are two whites included, one intended just for mixing which is a useful inclusion.I was impressed with these paints when I first tried them and have recommended them to my painting students as a good introductory pack to explore the gouache medium – they are excellent value and handle very like the more expensive professional brands.* Do keep an eye to pricing; these sets often vary in price and its worth checking both sets before purchase, particularly with Amazon market sellers.

Beginner friendly
Easy to use and very pigmented! I see what the hype is about. First time using gouache in my paintings. The price point is a little steep for my budget. The whites and yellow will definitely be first to go as you're missing greys, light green, light blues, peach and pinks. Still very nice paints though!
