An Important Must Watch Film
Rat Skates tells the story of Overkill. This documentary is easily one of the most interesting accounts of a heavy metal bands rise to fame. This film spares us the typical drama we find in similar style documentaries between the members and their personal beef and concentrates mainly on the glory days and comradery/happiness the boys in Overkill shared on their way to the top. No bad mouthing here. Just positive badassery. Demo Tapes, Stickers, Posters, Stage sets, beer cans, and blood, Rat Skates takes you in and shows you how he and the boys along with the dedication of his co-manager Girlfriend took a garage level / club act to the top through hard work steadfastness and awesome artistic vision. WATCH IT, headbang and shed a tear or two at the end. Rat Skates is the clear visionary behind this legend, and we all should appreciate it. For fans of Overkill of course, but anyone wanting a piece of the REAL THRASH HISTORY will learn where it all began.

Take a "Skate" down Memory Lane
This DVD was great! It took you down to the very humble beginnings of Overkill and the other Thrash metal bands of the day. It is comprehensive in it's content but I wish Mr. Kundrat could have been a bit more candid and comprehensive when discussing band mates and management. I don't know if legalities are involved, but I thought he could have said a bit more without looking to sling mud. Otherwise, it is a well done historical piece on thrash metal from an inside perspective. The ups and downs of band life are certainly covered here and the archival footage is pure and raw, which gives you a true sense of what it was like back then. I remember being part of some of the shows the band played in NY and NJ, this dvd captures the energy and excitement of it. It just about moved me to tears remembering all those experiences and people of days gone by but being glad I was part of the magic of it all. There were many kids with garage bands back in the 80's (myself included!) Who had dreams of making it big and this DVD documents that experience and one band who's determination never faltered, the sacrifices made, and the people involved in making it happen so that they could get signed and finally rise up from the basement; where most of our bands started back then! A must have for any Overkill/Thrash fan. Will NOT dissapoint!

A good watch
Good trip down memory lane for me. I wish the other people were interviewed who were referenced in the film.

From the basement to the world
I have always been a fan of Over Kill as a kid to an adult and still am as a grown man . This band has never backed down or just given up over the years which I can admire and respect as a whole as determination as a Thrash band . Theses guys still pump out albums to this day and they have never sold out or changed their sound . This Doc of their first stuff is a must see, ppl who love this band needs to see Wrecking Everything dvd .

Great DVD
Awesome. Doesn't just cover Overkill (and their finest days, at that)...but the beginnings of the thrash movement. Totally worth owning.

Very interesting DVD, but awful presentation.
I will make myself clear: this documentary is fantastic for the bands that are starting and gives a very clear insight of the ups and downs and the endeavours of a band like Over Kill to promote themselves since their beginnings until they got signed and became famous, all in the only viewpoint of their founding member Rat Skates. Pity the rest of the guys didn't have an opinion about this, but anyway a very good documentary for the old-school maniacs like me.Now you will wonder why I only give 3 stars to this? THE SUBTITLES. The DVD presentation is not the best, that's ok, BUT I am Spanish, and there are Spanish subtitles available for the ones who don't get the English language wholly, which is not my case. Ok, this DVD hasn't the biggest budget, Rat's done his best, BUT who the heck (when I write this I cannot help being pissed off) was the `visionary' who put those subtitles? They make absolutely NO SENSE at all, and the translation is sometimes (or most of the times) so literal that it becomes ridiculous. An example: `rock and roll' is `rock and roll' everywhere, they even bother to translate it into Spanish literally, what the hell? Why did you include that in the DVD, Rat Skates? Why doesn't it get revised so that it makes sense by SOMEONE WHO KNOWS? If you don't, please don't put the subtitles, you will not become embarassed. That's a bit of common sense, and for this I give this a 3.
