Delicious!
This stuff is very tasty and unlike a lot of varieties of berbere spice, it does not contain a lot of salt.

berbere spiced Duro Wat for your diabetic and weight loss diet.
Zamouri Spices are top quality and always well blended and fresh. I recommend Berbere spices for those looking to change up their food flavors and add some verity to their menu. the traditional Ethiopian dish of stewed chicken flavored with Berbere spice ( Doro Wat ) is a wonderful addition to your menu choices. if you are dieting and or following a strict diabetic diet, then you'll find adding this seasoning / dish to your choices to be especially desirable / appreciated. I recommend making the Doro Wat berbere spice chicken dish at least a day before you intend to eat it to let all the flavors meld and marinate into the chicken and vegetables. it's even better the 2nd or 3rd day after you make it. it's distinctly different from average fare and delicious.

Spicy and wonderful
I purchased this product for a pot of Ethiopian beef stew. This is a savory, spicy blend, and the stew was scrumptious. The only suggestion I would make for the buyer: If you aren't a fan of highly spicy stews, use less of the product. My recipe called for 1/4 cup of the berbere blend, but 2/3 of that amount probably would suffice. It is a really good blend either way and I plan to purchase another jar soon.

Great authentic taste!
I've been missing the Ethiopian food I used to eat in New York restaurants. I Googled some recipes, and many called for the Berbere spice mix. After a little research, I ordered this one, and was not disappointed. The spices tasted fresh, smelled vibrant, and I made a delicious pot of Doro Wat (chicken stew). Everyone raved over it! I'll be ordering it again when this jar runs out!

Whew! whatta kick
I bought this spice because it has chili and Cayenne peppers as well as a a few other peppers I've never heard of. I don't cook Ethiopian foods, but I do like foods with a spicy kick. I'm always on the lookout for a spice that will put a bit of spice on my food. Recently I bought some frozen lemon pepper COD from Costco and decided to sprinkle the top with Berbere, wrap the COD in parchment paper and bake for the recommended time. What a great treat. The spice stays put and really enhances the flavor of the fish. Next I'll try chicken. This spice does have a bit too much Cumin but otherwise it's a great spice in my opinion.

Flavor not expected
I thought this would be more aromatic like Arabian spices but it is more like Indian spices snd has a hot spice in it also like cayenne, which is okay but I think it detracts from the flavor of coffee.
