Great for a single batch day of canning
My 23qt pressure cooker came today and i immediately had to use it. So I can’t speak for how it holds up over time. This thing is awesome. I did a small batch of canned salmon and it worked perfectly. This machine does take longer than a normal stove top pressure cooker but if you are only doing one batch at a time this is totally worth it. I got it going and just went to do other things till it said it was done and that was so easy. So much less exhausting than sitting there monitoring a pressure gage for an hour. Now if you are a multiple batch at a time kind of person I don’t think I would recommend this cooker. The warm up and cool down take a significantly larger amount of time so you wouldn’t be cranking through batches the same. My stove top cooker takes 20 minutes to release the pressure and this takes 1.5 hrs to finish releasing pressure and cooling down. It was easy to use, and the directions were easy to understand. This cooker is very light and easy to move when empty. So far I have no complaints on the design. It would have been cool if they had thrown in a couple racks with this larger model for layers. I will update my review as I see how this pressure cooker holds up!

Fast and Easy to Use, makes canning easier, more enjoyable and pretty fool-proof
I bought this pressure canner so I could easily do smaller batches more frequently, rather than trying to fill my giant All American pressure canner. The directions are very clear and I especially like the laminated instruction card which gives instructions, acting as a reminder every time I pull this unit out. I appreciate that this canner handles all aspects of canning, including heating jars in advance. This really helps reduce the number of pans I usually had to use to pressure can, in order to pre-heat jars. Cooking speed seems less using this canner than a stove top model. It's very durable, being made out of heavy duty aluminum and it's easy to clean. The canner is attractive and while it's a bit heavy, it's no where near the weight of my huge All American. I find now that because it's so simple to use and my batches are smaller, I really enjoy canning a lot more and it's a much simpler task than using a giant canner - also because it's all automatic. I (probably like every other canner) feel that I should FILL any canner I use because I'm going through the effort to can something. This canner accommodates 16 wide mouth pints in layers and 7 quarts. A couple of times I've had 8 or 9 quarts or more than 16 pints, but it inspires me to prepare some more food and do a second load. All in all, a very nice canner and I'm very happy I bought it. While the price was a bit high, I appreciate the Presto name and I expect this canner to last me a long time.

Easy to use and gets you canning without the worry
LOVE this thing. I was nervous about canning in the first place, but as I watched videos, I realized I would not want to sit on top of a canner and worry about the proper heat and all the things you do to can successfully in a regular canner. As a newbie, this was the best option for me. I have canned over 120 items without a hitch. The first time I used it, it would not go to the canning phase. I searched the internet and found out that the air vent/cover lock was not engaging because the nut that is on the inside of the lid was loose. As soon as I tightened it up, I had no issues. That could have worked its way loose during travel, so not a fault of Presto. It is not loud. I am used to the different sounds it makes, but I appreciate that I can be in different places in the kitchen and it will let me know with a beep or beeping that it is ready to move to the next phase. It seems durable. I don't think it will have any issues in that department. I can tell you that owning this has made me addicted to canning. I am so happy to learn how to do it and to have a canner I can count on every time to come to the correct pressure/temp. and time. Wish I could have a second one.

Fantastic pressure canner
I bought this pressure canner earlier in the year and used it for thr first time yesterday. I am totally impressed. This canner does everything for you. All you have you have to do is plug it in, set it for the type of canning you want to do. Turn a dial to set the time and push a button to start. It does everything from warming your jars all the way to the finish. It beeps between cycles. Its a water bath canner and pressure canner in one. I can fit 15 pint jars in it at a time no problem. Wish I had one years ago. I absolutely LOVE it and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to simplify their canning process.

Works like a charm!
Super happy I bought this. It’s nice for when you do big batches of pints. I also love that it does quarts. It’s a little slower than I’m use to but it’s worth it. Everything works perfectly no leaks easy on / off with lid. Super sturdy and the safety part is a plus. It’s big and it does its job.

Highly recommend this canner.
I would easily have given this canner a 5 star rating, but the regulator was bad. So it's gonna take about 10 to 15 days to get a new one shipped to me. Presto's customer service is absolutely wonderful, though.

Where was this appliance all my life!
Fantastic. Canned a lot of fruit this spring and this appliance made it so much easier than than in the past. I live off grid and can save a lot of propane by using my sun energy from the solar rather than canning on the gas stove. But its got SO many more advantages than that. If boils your jars at the right temp, for the right amount of time, let's you know when they are ready to fill, aits for you to fill them keeping the, water at the proper temp, senses when the water around the filled jars is back up to temp before it starts timing the canning. You pre-set the temp and time before everything. Then you close it down, let it can and it does the rest, even a cool down period then let's you know to remove the jars. Takes a lot of keeping track and guess work out and you can just concentrate on all the prep instead. It's truly worth it.

Why I moved from the 12-quart Presto Precise to the 23-quart
I started with the 12-quart Presto Precise Digital Pressure Canner and really like it. It’s compact, well insulated, quiet, and takes much of the monitoring out of pressure canning. I’ve successfully used it for everything from stock and meat to vegetables and tomatoes. The reason I moved to the 23-quart wasn’t because there was anything wrong with the 12-quart. I simply discovered a limitation I hadn’t appreciated when I bought it: the 12-quart can pressure-can quart jars, but it cannot boiling-water can quart jars. It isn’t tall enough to maintain the required water level above quart jars during boiling-water processing. That distinction is easy to miss. I assumed that because the machine accommodated quarts for pressure canning, it would also accommodate them for water-bath canning. It doesn’t. That became important once I started doing quart jars of pickles and other high-acid foods. The 23-quart Presto Precise (02153) solves that problem and also increases capacity to 7 quart jars. For anyone who expects to do a meaningful amount of home canning, particularly in quarts, I think the 23-quart is the obvious choice between the two. There is one thing worth knowing before it arrives: the 23-quart is constructed differently. The 12-quart has a substantial insulated/shrouded body, while the 23-quart uses a lighter, more traditional aluminum pressure-canner body on the digital base. When I first handled it, the 23-quart actually felt surprisingly light by comparison. That is the intended design; there isn't another insulated 23-quart Precise model that I missed. I’m keeping the 12-quart because it remains a very convenient machine for smaller batches. But if I were buying my first Presto Precise today and had the space for it, I would go straight to the 23-quart. The ability to process 7 quarts and use quart jars for both pressure canning and boiling-water canning makes the additional capacity far more useful than the model name alone suggests. Bottom line: the 12-quart is a very good compact canner. The 23-quart is the one I would choose if you want a single machine that you’re unlikely to outgrow.

Very beginner friendly.
I have had my canner a week. Have pressure canned and water bath canned and love it. Such an easy machine to use. Super simple. Absolutely in love so far. The only negetive I have so far is it only comes with one rack so you can’t stack your pressure canner. But there very inexpensive to buy.
