Frog Log Animal Saving Escape Ramp for Pool

I got tired of finding dead critters in my pool. A friend suggested a frog log, I bought this one after reading reviews. I found snakes on the mesh and didn’t find as many dead frogs/critters which means it was working. I did have to shake it off every so often because bugs were all over it. I lived in the country in Georgia and every time it rained the pool would be filled with baby frogs! While my daughter and I loved rushing out after it rained to play bug/critter/amphibian lifeguard we couldn’t do that in the middle of the night. We found dead baby moles in the pool and it was heartbreaking. While the frog log wouldn’t necessarily help the baby moles (they’re blind), it did help tons of other creatures. We left this frog log with the pool when we moved and will absolutely get more when we have a pool again.

I used to use a small boogie board in our pool to try to give the baby ducklings something to get out with. But the boogie board would fly up and out of the pool. I bought this little critter saver and it works really well. Doesn't fly out and the little duckies hop right onto it and walk up the ramp. As a result, I haven't had to clean out any dead ducklings (which really freaks me out). So thank you to whoever came up with this idea!

I saw one of these at the Botanical Gardens at the Columbia Zoo and immediately realized it was the slolution to my pool frog problem. It arrived quickly and it sets up quickly and easily. Since installing it, I have found NO frogs and NO spiders in the skimmer. It will move around a bit when the pool is in use but as long as you make sure it is in place at the end of the day, it will do its job. If get critters in your pool, this will help them get themselves out. Recommended.

I wasn't quick to write a review until I had it in place for a little while. No instructions came in the package but I figured that it was the intent to place sand in the upper part in order to act as an anchor. However, I decided to place a brick on it to hold in place. It worked fine.I was getting at least one to two frogs in my skimmers at least once ever two days if not every day. After having this in place for a week, I had Zip floating or dead frogs in my skimmer. Since I have never actually seen a frog use it, I wasn't completely convinced that it was due to the placement of the ramp. Now that I have had it in place for over a month and have had zero frog fatalities, it's got to be due to the ramp. Yay! It works!Update! I finally caught a frog using the ramp. It works. It was at night so my photos are dark but you can see that it works.

Little critters like to take a dive in my pool and then end up drowning and I have to clean their bodies out of the skimmers. More than anything I hated to see these little guys meet their demise in my pool. I added 2 of these, one near each skimmer and no more bodies! I have yet to see a frog or mouse on them but I know they're working. I do see birds standing on them and bathing in my pool though. =) After one season the covering is faded, turning white. I really don't see these lasting more than 2-3 seasons at most but they're cheap enough that I don't mind too much. Would be nice if they were a little more UV resistant though.

already rescued 3 frogs, that we saw, but we know it is rescuing many more every day. We used to find many frogs and toads dead either floating in the pool, or stuck in the skimmer every day. We haven't found a single one since we installed these. We put one at each end of our pool to maximize effectiveness. So far, so good.

We used to find critters in our pool on a regular basis. Small rodents, baby rabbits and frogs would access the pool for water and not be able to climb out. It was a difficult part of pool ownership. We've used two of the frog saving ramps for the past few years and have consistently had NO deaths since we started using them. We cannot believe how well they work!

I purchased this because the lizards in my yard are always getting stranded in the pool. The tile is too slipper for them to get out. This works very well in rescuing not only the lizards but whatever else falls in. Very happy with my purchase.
